That's one of the many reasons I'll never live on a slab house. I work a guy that had a leak in an old house of his when he lived in Georgia. He ended up renting a Jack hammer, chiseling up his bedroom floor, fixing the pipe and pouring concrete back in, then redoing the floors.

I'll stick with a crawlspace, thank you. I can see all my pipes until it goes out the house to the septic, and that's a 15' run a foot under ground. Easily enough to dig up.

Did someone say crawl space!! Installed AWC lines and new dedicated 20 amp circuit and these supports to hold the dang tank...the old military belly crawl did come in handy...and no cucumber smell (snake reference)

When running the screw Jack's like that, how often do you need to check for settling of the footings?

Did you consider sistering those joists? A couple of them look pretty rough.

Next a dust mask or respirator. Loads if insulation and nasties in crawl spaces .

I checked weekly for two months Bc you can’t go too far too fast or you can mess with the foundation or crack wood. I will continue to go down once a month now until I’m satisfied. Plus if it does settle I will be able to tell bc the tank was only resting on one joist previously running along the long axis.

I actually did sister some on the far end. First one to ever ask me that . And I have showed that to many of my construction buddies of mine. Also, they look tougher than they are ...surprisingly good shape for 45 year old wood.

Being in the crawl anyway, I would have done all of them but that's just me. Nice job on the cross 6x6's and jacks!

Thanks, ya I probably should have. But I’m a doctor not a construction dude but I love doing that stuff. I redo a room a year. Strip it to the studs and redo it all. Don’t always get it right the first time. But at the end of the day I know every nook and cranny (and its a big old house) xand I can truly call it my house.

And it was no easy task getting all the supplies down there. I may get back to doing that at some point. Those beams were no joke.

Last summer I found a 3' skin under the house. Never heard of the cucumber reference, it's always been a stale musty odor to me.
