Brand New 8 gallon bio cube

This was the way the patio looked back then. I was president of the local Parrot Head club for 10 years, so that was my influence. That along with tequila and rum. :p

I grew up in a parrothead house as well, it was great.

We had a lot of fun and raised a good bit of money for local charities. Our favorites were the local no-kill dog shelter, a lady that used donations to provide wigs for cancer patients going through chemo, the local Cystic Fibrosis chapter and for a time, the Red Cross. We really do "party with a purpose," as the motto goes. Once my wife and mother's health started to decline, I had to back off of all of that. Not enough time to be as involved as I needed to be.

Sorry to learn your wife and mother are in declining health.

I cannot recall, so please forgive me, but are you a '55 or a '58 baby?

Sorry to hear about the families health issues.

I am glad that you donated to a no-kill shelter. I do often since I can't give my time much anymore. The scratches and stuff are no good when you are on blood thinners. :(

Thanks. They are both soldering on as best they can, but both have pretty bad arthritis. My wife has had both hips and her right knee replaced in the last few years. She is only 55. Now she is dealing with her left knee and lower back pain. Both used to be very active until three years ago.

I am finding that out even taking low dose asprin every day. That started when I was having what my neurologist diagnosed as minor TIAs. Numbness in my face and tingling down my left arm. It went away a few days after going on the asprin. That was early last year. No problems since.

I was born on December 23rd, 1954. So, almost 1955. :)

I have some time off coming up at Easter. I need to get my yard in some sort of shape. It is a mess. My wife can't really work in the yard anymore and I get overwhelmed taking care of mine and my mom's. I never have the energy to do much to mine anymore. We used to have a pretty neat back yard. But not anymore. This used to be the view from our patio.. A little weird, I know - but it is me we are talking about. :)

Sorry to hear about all the arthritis. I can tell you I just was part of some research on some meds to come out in 2020 that are injected into the joint and actually get regrowth and reduce pain and cancel surgery need. We will see but so far it looks very promising. Not stem cells. Actually looks at a pathway we first described in fruit fly wings long long ago.

Very nice! I love my backyard and the view also. Nothing more relaxing after a long day. When is this threads block party?

All is takes is that one time your snail knocks your frags off, your trying to grab the frags on the sandbed, your eel with horrible eye sight happens to be extra hungry and mistakes your fingers for shrimp, bites you with super bacteria filled teeth, you jerk your arm back, knock down your live rock structure, breaking corals, cracking the back of your tank, flooding your house, killing all your livestock. Now I gotta ask.., was it worth it?

I have actually heard something about this recently. Don't remember where. Maybe her left knee can hold out long enough to benefit from this down the road, or benefit me when I start to fall apart. She has also had two surgeries on her neck 5-6 years ago. Fused at several levels and had an artificial disk put in at one level. She has really had a tough time with all of this.

A block party at @Katrina71 's house! Now that would be a hoot! :-)
