Not in my time zone (central) or part of town. It just got dark here maybe 30 minutes ago. We will be lucky if they quit at midnight. Plus, I am sure they will continue through the weekend. I hate fireworks holidays because of the dogs. Otherwise, it doesn't bother me.

We were camping once and my good friend had his dog. Someone a few sites over starting lighting off fireworks (it was nowhere near the 4th). The dog took off like a shot into the night. We searched for hours for him. Weird thing was, we could not find him. Turned out, someone on the other side of the campsite took the dog and tried to steal him by hiding him in their tent. They were too drunk to lie to us and we figured it out pretty quick once we got talking to them. Who the heck steals a dog?

I missed the train to catch them. I did see some of the replay on NBC. Missing the train I at least got to see the fireworks in my own town. When i got to work, there was still some free food left and most of it vegetarian friendly, so not a total loss.

Exactly. I should have taken a picture for you. I know you like food and free. There was a full tray of penne a la vodka and a half tray of excellent grilled cheese and tomato sandwiches.

Saber settled down. I guess that stuff worked after all. It is called Sileo. A gel that comes in a syringe and you apply it between their cheek and gum - I guess like Skoal. 
No one on my street has set any fireworks off that I have seen, but plenty all around where we live. Loud enough, but very unusual for my street to be quiet. So far a win here too.

Here too. I had a dog that would spend the last part of the 4th into the 5th in the bathtub. I guess it was her little bomb shelter.

Yeah, last year they were biting us in our sleep. I had no idea those little black ants were capable of biting, or that i'd feel it, let alone it actually sting a bit. Little jerks.

Illegal mortars go off between 6pm when sun is still out and about 1am, it's 10pm so we got a little while to go here. Lasts awhile. And they've been going on for 3-4 days and will continue to go off for 4-5 days. And of course on NYE all the left overs go off.

Slept the 4th away, got to tear down a used 15 column and relocate the fish to a fw condo for rehoming.To ease the pain, going to go shopping at my LFS for salt and stuff later today. Happy belated 4th all.

My absolute favorite comfort meal is grilled cheese and tomato soup. A friend's mom made that for me as a kid. I reconnected with her after 30 years and that was what I asked for when she invited me for dinner. She laughed. Little things you never forget I suppose.

All the talk of feral kitties, a few pages ago, triggered a memory from when I lived in Sarasota, FL. There was an older, decent sized strip mall. I cannot the name of the mall but I do recall it was on Lockwood Ridge Rd and there was a discount movie theater there. In back of the mall, there were always feral cats. A lot of feral cats. I would estimate there were a couple hundred feral cats there at any given time. I used to buy a couple of bags of cat food and dump them back there about once a week. Then I would sit in my car and watch. It was something I always enjoyed doing.
Here are a couple pictures of my cats, Squeaky and Highness. They are sisters and I got them as very tiny kittens. They've been with me since 2006.
