Brand New 8 gallon bio cube

Wish me luck guys, I entered a drawing for six baby macrostomas and premixed bbs eggs and salt. Number 11! I’ve not had macs in so long and they are my utmost favorite fish! This was Grump. He had quite a personality.

That is a beautiful fish! Our stocking choices weren’t the best, just stuff from petco. A school of barbs, pleco, 2 pictus, an upside down cat, the big purple shark, and a couple glow fish. Tank looks pretty good though, if I do say so myself!

This maroon stringy crap won't go away even with red slime remover 2 doses back to back
Not sure what to do, I may do a 48hr tank blackout?
Corals and fish should be fine for 48hrs.

Maybe it’s not cyano?

Lights out for the night, but I'm starting to think that too.
If it's dinos, everything is alive so I'd assume it's not the really bad type.?

I doubt it’s dino, Dino occurs rather suddenly after a major nutrient shift, typically to levels going to 0.

Try and send a pic, incorrectly diagnosing Dino is dangerous since the way to cure it is so intense.

Very true.
I'll snap a pic tomorrow.

for months during cyano Ihad reddish brown snout. It looked like Dino’s in a local tank. Not sure what it was but after I got some Nutrients, keeping filter socks clean daily, increased flow and blowing off rocks it went away. I also added extra dose of Phyto but most likely it didn’t help.
hope you figure it out

Exactly what I'm going to do as well.
I just ordered a new roll for my roller filter.
This algae popped up right after I ran out of filter material.
Starting to wonder if that was keeping the stuff out of the tank for awhile now?
Either way it's just ugly no worries.
And thank y'all for the advice.

Oh yea, I also made a top for the office tank today.
Both tanks are covered now.
No more jumpers ever again!
@Why-Me called the forum and the forum said
No more fishies floppin' on the floor

thx. A real bummer. I have another on order. The yellow watchman goby, branch hammer coral, and hermit crabs are all doing fine. I have believe it was the fish and not me. Everything else is doing fine with this order. Fingers crossed. If this one doesn't work out, I'm concentrating on corals and worry about adding fish down the road. Here's a pic of the hammer.
