Yep, Danner Mag Drive 5. Great pumps but often a little noisy. I have 2 mag drives on my system. But my sump is in the basement so the small amount of noise is not a problem. This might help you size the new one.

I really like my current DC pump. It is super quiet (you can't hear it unless you stick your head in the chamber with the pump.

Let me start off saying I purchased a setup from someone else and I'm still very new and learning the whole process so please be gentle. :)

I have a 65 gallon tank with a 20 gallon sump below. I have an eshopps protein skimmer (not sure of the model) and submerged return pump. My return pump is quite noisy, to the point I can't hear my tv over it at night. I was considering buying a new one that is more silent (and keeping this one as a back up) but I am not sure how many gph I should be looking at? Does anyone have any recommendations on some good quiet ones that would work?

Thanks in advance.
I have a 75g dt + 30 and use currentusa eflux 6009 dc, up to 1050 gph.
The biggest benefit is the dial to adjust the speed.
I run mine at 40ish %.
Very quiet.

I just got done doing that. It's still bouncing around inside there. It's so odd. I don't see any reason for it to do that but it is.
That happened to me when the impeller cracked. It was not obvious when I looked at it. Marine Depot carries the impeller as a spare part plus you can get it on Amazon or directly from Danner. Its not very expensive. Once I replaced it the pump went from LOUD to kinda loud. YMMV.

This is the pump you're submerging? Is that bare copper wire?
Looks like bare copper to me. If you view picture full size the wire definately looks cracked. Take a closer look at the coord neer the pump. If is cracked and bare copper wire you need to replace the pump. no questions asked. Electrical, fire, shock hazard. And Copper is deadly to inverts.
