Brightwells Razor VS Vibrant

Update... I went ahead and tried Razor. Followed the instructions for dosing amount for my tank. Went the 10 days plus 2 more with higher dose since I didn't see any changes with bubble algae at all. So 12 days... it pretty much did nothing. It feels like there was a slight bacteria bloom.. I see more white stuff on the glass all around above the water line.

That reminds me... I need to add back carbon which I took offline per instructions. But yeah, it did nothing for my tank. Didn't affect any corals or sunburst anemone whew. My dragon's breath looks ok but lost orange tips which could be just due to lower phosphate *shrug*. but it did not die.
Are you going to continue dosing Razor or going to try another product?

Nah. Not continuing with Razor since it did nothing for me. Don't even know what it is really.. Glad it didn't have negative impact.

I only tried to get rid of bubble algae. I'll just do manual removal which worked great for hair algae and bryopsis.

Glad to hear you had no ill effects from dosing it. I just got a bottle from Marine Depot liquidation sale and was going to give it a try and see if it would work for bubble algae. I've been doing manual removal of it, and want to see if it hold it back at bay with manual removal akd dosing this.

I've tried and have Vibrant and has worked in the past, but took around 6-7 weeks to do its thing.

I have tried vibrant twice. Both times it really hits my sps hard.. To the point of almost bleached out. The 2nd time I tried it (just a month ago) I under dosed big time because I saw what it did the first time. It still hit them just as hard.. Just ordered razor to see how it goes. Hoping a lot better then vibrant.
So what was the out come, this seems like a common situation? Thanks

dose Razor help to get rid of the bubble algae ? Thanks

Want to my lfs today to pick up some vibrant. Girl that works there told me they were out of vibrant, but they have this product from brightwell called razor. She said it is Brightwells equivalent to vibrant. I picked up a bottle to try since I'm battling some bubble algae right now, has anyone tried or have experience with this product??

I think its a flocculant but I could be wrong

Think? Thats not a good way to spread information, all assumptions are just that..all brightwells products are proprietary ingredients so there is no way to know for sure, don't spread misinformation. They never give out their ingredients on any of their products.

You seem to be confused by what the word "think" means. It means that, given the product description, it sounds similar to other products like dr tims clear up. I'm making an educated guess which is the best we can do for a lot of aquarium products. I don't appreciate you saying I'm spreading misinformation given that I said "think" not "know." Terminology matters. And again, you seemed to miss where I said "I could be wrong."

I have being the product guy at an lfs for years and basically had to memorize the catalog of every major brand.

If a company won't list ingredients then we are well within our rights to "think" what may be in them.

Remember that we have spent 1000's on our tanks and that every additive carries a level of risk that may need to be managed. If you don't know what's in that product then you cannot manage that risk.

Rather than shutting down thoughts, go check out the vibrant Thread where someone had a thought and it led to extensive testing uncovering that vibrant is very likely a rebottled algafix.

Look i know its very exciting to try and jump on someone's post that you think is talking directly to you because I quoted your unless post about your "thought" but settle down it was a blanket statement. Read again if you'd like but there was no need for both of you(@Spare time. And @LgTas.) to chime in on nonsense just to pile more nonsense on it. Idc about brightwell thanks have a great day happy reefing they say

Oh my wait it says "flocculant" on the product page. It's almost like you could have gone to the product page and seen what I said was correct rather than out of no where coming in hot with an insult.

I don't know what your problem is but it's a discussion forum and if you don't want to see people discuss then I am not sure what you are doing here. I'm guessing you are just having a bad day so I hope you are ok.

You really like the back and forth just hoping someone says something about you wow take it the wrong way buddy its ok, all good days here idk about you and your easily hurt feelings but like you said already.

Vibrant and Razor are both bacteria based products. I discussed these products with Jack Kent at the Atlanta Reef Club event. I've used Vibrant and it works, with a Acan shriveling for a few days bit no apparent effect on other corals. Acan is fine now.
I have always used vibrant and mb 7 together but days apart. I have noticed that vibrant definitely help loosen algae for easier removal but I still get algae. I think my lights have to much warm white! My tank actually appears yellow at times! Replacing them soon! Anyway, what do you think is the best cleaner on the market? I was going to try MB clean because I am also cycling a frag tank right now! Another reason was I thought vibrant was very expensive until I compared dose size! Its only 1 ml per 10 gallons!.

It should loosen or kill algae, since it's an algae killing chemical and nothing else.
