Brooklynella?

Ok then so a couple questions here. The two fish I have left can I put them both in the same QT tank. You say to run my DT tank fallow, how long and do I need to do anything as far as treating the main tank.

I appreciate the frankness, I have always known I was taking a risk not qt'ing but in threads and several sites that I have read about brook I have seen clownfish far more infected, if that is the proper term, than mine. The Ruby reef will be at my door tomorrow. So 48 hours total time and with a FW dip in between which I have read some people having success treating brook with just freshwater dips.

I am going to find a spot to set up a small qt tank prolly 10 maybe 20 gal is all I have on hand.

I see you are up in carmel. Who do you use as far as local? For fish and corals?
I wouldn’t treat brook with just fw dips. 76 days fallow takes care of all common nasties with a 99% certainty.

A smaller 20 gal should be fine. I advise you buy dr tims bacteria in bottle for cycle help it’s great.

Small world, honestly I buy online because all LFS around here aside from premium are either significantly overpriced or have limited availability. 14-day guarantee cannot be found locally.

OK so when you say fallow do you mean without corals as well? I have used premium aquatic when they were still located up here in indy. and you are correct 14 day guarantee is fantastic!

Coral, inverts, fine. Only the fish need to be removed.

Premium is a great company, I just like to keep less “standard” stuff and also now that they’re further away I cannot make the trek easily.

HA, I just realized you were in Indy. I am just 5 minutes north of @4FordFamily Brook can still be fatal... (I have also read that people are able to get rid of it with FW dips, but safe route is to just treat with Ruby RR)

You will want to use the QT as you suggested above, and both fish can go in together no problem. You will need to leave your display fallow for 6 weeks to get rid of Brook. (76 days for Ich)

@4FordFamily will probably tell you the same, here. I don't buy any fish locally (Except for a few from other hobbyists). I pretty much order from Live Aquaria, LA Divers Den, or NY Aquatic. I have also ordered a few fish from Blue zoo, but I try to stay away from them as they do not have a guarantee, and I haven't had a lot of luck with their livestock. If you want good coral for a fair price, join INDMAS, and use craigslist to find other hobbyists selling frags, or breaking down entire systems. It is a way better bang for your buck! (I have bought coral, and live rock from two local hobbyists, enough for 2 different tanks. Probably 5k in retail, and I have under 1k in all of it total)

That's awesome two of you guys are so close to me. I do need to join INDMAS.

I have been wanting to order from live aquaria but I want to order enough to hit that free shipping. I have been holding off because of what has been going on. and the fact if I want to QT a few fish that come from them Can i do that in a 20 gal tank or should I set up a couple of those. You guys might say shame on me. But I have purchased fish both fresh and salt from the greenwood uncle bills and have never had an issue with them. The only other place i used for marine fish was premium aquatics when they where still up here before they moved down south.

I don't have a dedicated room or anything I can put a QT tank in so I'm prolly just gonna set it up on my kitchen counter. Wife will complain cause it will be in the way but hey might as well. I need to get some copper on its way as well. Thanks for all the help guys i really to appreciate it!

I used to buy from Uncle Bills, they’re not horrible but it’s buying a fish with velvet without a guarantee versus buying a fish online with velvet with one, lol!

We do quarantines in batches but I’d suggest taking it slow. Get some experience under your belt, take it slow.

The reef on keystone is very overpriced but there are SOME knowledgeable people there.

They still contend you can feed away ich and velvet. Much easier to do with low levels of copper in your systems (all mentioned LFS here do this), or if you sell the fish within a few days of arrival before the parasite takes a foothold.

Indmas is a great resource, $21 per year for buy sell. I’m not very active there mostly because of the inactivity but there are great people there and they have meets.

You can find great deals on their for sale dry goods and livestock forum. My tag there is 3FordFamily.

Hey so one more quick question. I am going to be buying medications. I got the ruby reef rally coming. What else to I need to get. I will be QT all fish from now on but I am going to treat everything like it is infected from the get go. So give me a list of what to get. I read through this https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/how-to-quarantine.189815/

And the copper and the prazipro is easy to get but the Chloroquine phosphate is a little harder to find and when you can find it seems expensive. Should I get some Formalin as well?

I called the reef a couple weeks ago and ask if they had Chaeto..... I was responded to with a uhhh whats that. So I responded with Macro Algae. That time I got no i don't think we sell algae.....lol I just thanks and hung up the phone.

That list @Big G provided is great it took me a couple rounds of QT to acquire all my stuff. It is nice having it on the shelf just in case.

My Arsenal. Still have some things I need to add.
