Brought home 75 gallon tank

Picked up a goby and a yellow tang (new name lion, my 4 year old gave the name). I also grabbed a mushroom coral. What are your thoughts on placement.

Shrooms like low light and low flow but will acclimatise to almost any situation in the as long as it's introduced slowly to bright light or it can melt. I don't want to shot you down but I would go a bit slower with stocking but I do know the itch when you see something you want but just don't rush to much. The other thing was that I would of scrubbed all the Rock and tank to get rid of GHA or it will come back with vengeance I would also check your n03 p04 levels to see where they are at. Fuge with macro algae will be good for the nitrate but I would also look at getting phosphate reactor and running some GFO like rowa phos

The algae is getting a lot better since I've set it up. I'd say 60% is gone now. I don't think I'll be adding anything else to the tank besides maybe a refugium until the algae is gone.

I'm going to order a rodi but wanted to get recommendations first. I'd like to stay under $150 if possible.

I have that exact sump. I just took the balls out, the white middle piece out, and put in live sand, rock and my macro algae plus carbon and some crabs and snails

Do you have a picture of your setup? Is it more beneficial to turn the the current sump setup into a refugium?

Do you guys do anything with your waste water? Seems like a lot of wasted water.

I'm in an apartment, so it goes down the drain, I am p limited on water storage areas. Some use it for laundry, or watering plants or trees. I would like to do something with it, and will once we own a house.
Some run the waste water line out directly out to a water loving tree, or garden area. Saw someone with a brute trash can next to washer with a pump, waste water flowed in there and they pumped it into the washer.
You can get a unit with a lower waste water ratio but they are more costly.

The one in the link you posted says it uses 33% less water which is good. If I had a house and a garden that would be one thing but I don't think I could put something to store the water for long periods of time. It would be nice if I could use a couple of gallons and put it in a pitcher and throw it in the frig for drinking water

I would like to put a 5 gallon bucket under the sink and run it through the wall to the tank for auto top offs.

Yeah, I think some say it's fine to drink, others say no. I don't just cause the filters and cannisters are not sterile and who knows what is growing in there.. storage is my problem as well.
I have mine tapped off the washer dryer connection, with waste going down the washer drain.
Before I upgraded to my current tank, I had a 55g with no sump, no room in stand for ato container so, I had a 5g bucket next to the tank in a storage ottoman for ato. Worked well, was easily accessible, and wasn't an eyesore.

Just tested everything again after work. Gave the weekend to let the fish adjust and see if anything changes. Everything came back perfect.

Thoughts? I ordered a 10 gallon heater and a small pump. I'll add the rodi water to two gallon buckets. Add salt. Use the heater to get the water to tank temp and the pump to mix the salt.

When I had the 150 gallon I used to have a large garbage can with a heater and pump in it. I'd use the pump to mix the water as well as add the water to the tank when it was ready.

I plan on hooking the rodi under the kitchen sink. Is there a way to keep the water on to it but not have it run? Instead of going under the sink and turning the water on every time I need to use it id like to run the hose through the wall to the tank and be able to turn the hose on from the outside when needed.

Rodi is setup. Waste water is going directly into the washing machine. Automatic top off is setup and running.
