any idea why brown spots have appeared on my clown fish? They both seem well and are eating fine. Should I be worried?

Pictures please.
Also what are your water parameters? How long has your tank been running? What size tank?

^^This; especially needing photos showing the affected area(s). Also, are your clowns using a nem or stinging LPS coral as their host? Could be hyper-melanization.

Below is a clownfish being stung by it's host and hyper-melanization is occurring.

Thanks for the response :)

Ok so I know I'm going to sound a little lazy/stupid but I get my local LFS to do all my water testing for me and I'm told everything is as it should be. It's a 55 gallon tank and has been running for 5 months.

I'm trying my hardest to get a decent picture but they're all coming out blurry

They don't seem to host anything and I don't have any anemones yet as the tanks still a bit new for them. Could any of the other corals be doing it? I only have a few and sorry if I get the names wrong but I think I have a green polyp, zoa, Kenya tree and mushroom.

The zoa would be the only real possibility. Do you see them hanging around (or sleeping near) that?

I haven't noticed them sleeping near it but it's a possibility so I'll keep an eye out and see where they're hanging out when they're not following me up and down the tank :)

If they are eating and behaving normally, I would just observe for now. The brown spots look like hyper-melanization as Humblefish noted above. Could be caused by some nipping from the other clownfish, but it's not indicative of disease IMO/E.
Awesome thanks all :)

Do you happen to have any aiptasia in the tank? Someone please correct me if I am wrong, but I believe it can sting fish.

My clowns live in the Xenia. They started developing dark spot like the ones pictured. I was afraid it was black ick. After some investigation, I found a couple Aiptasia hidden in the rocks around the Xenia. After removing the Aiptasia the spots went away and never returned.
