Brown spots on clown fish

Do you happen to have any aiptasia in the tank? Someone please correct me if I am wrong, but I believe it can sting fish.

My clowns live in the Xenia. They started developing dark spot like the ones pictured. I was afraid it was black ick. After some investigation, I found a couple Aiptasia hidden in the rocks around the Xenia. After removing the Aiptasia the spots went away and never returned.
Oh I just got rid of an aiptasia! If that can sting it may have been the culprit. If the spots don't start disappearing I'll check for more behind the other rocks otherwise I'm going to assume it must be the zoas :)

I read somewhere that many Clowns also exhibit spots when going through adolescence. I did a lot of panicked researching when it happened to mine. I tried to find it again, but couldn't locate the article (I admit that I didn't look too hard). It seems to be a very common occurrence and in my case they went away in a couple of weeks. Like many have said before, as long as they are eating and not acting more weird than is normal for these crazy little guys, don't sweat it. Just monitor for now just in case.

My guy gets them too. I noticed the spots about a year ago. They come and go. No problems with his health that I can tell. I've had him 12 years now.
