whichever has it in stock, and at the best price with shipping, and does not arrive to me like a truck ran over it.

I am impartial to vendors, unless i have a horrible experience with them.

BRS charges sales tax, others do not. I try to go to saltwater when possible for lower overall cost.

Depends on the state...

In CA, all out of state vendors are required to charge sales tax.

BRS does NOT charge sales tax, the government does. It is not up to the retailers to choose to charge or not charge. It depends on several factors mainly location and sales volume.

Correct, they dont charge - they collect.

There are vendors out there who don't collect for out of state purchases and this automatically means you get nearly an additional 10% on top of the sale.

And in mosts states with sales tax you are required to remit that uncollected sales tax to your state tax collection agency because it was not collected at the point of sale.

Also - with few exceptions most states now have and force online business to comply with NEXUS laws... online vendors who do not collect and remit sales tax are likely playing a costly game that they will regret.

Which ever has all I need at the best price including my LFS

Premium Aquatics then, BRS

I believe the requirement for out of state co. to collect NYS taxes is whether you're advertising in NYS or are publicly traded on the NYSE.

I know and I always do. ;)
Every one does...

But as these broke states dig deeper into the sofa for spare change and realize they need it due to loss of billions in sales tax revenues to out of state online sales, things will get uglier. Most issue I hear of are people who have that can of worms opened because of some other audit issue, but once opened it is like any other unpaid tax they want.

Here is what I found with quick search

- If you are a remote seller with gross receipts from sales into New York exceeding $500,000 and more than 100 sales in the previous four quarters, you must collect and remit New York sales tax.

I don't know about other criteria or what the thresholds are for NY residents with regard to untaxed sales/use items form out of state (online or in person).

Anyway - back to the poll, none of this matters.

When I buy online it is mostly through champion, lighting and supply.
When I used to use bulk Reef supply, it was for exactly that, bulk Reef items. But now I primarily get those through Amazon.

When I heard what happened with Hydros I was a little upset.

Then this week I had a pump fail on the Maxspect Dice nano tank I bought - I called BRS, they said they distribute Maxpect, they don't have the pump in stock but they sent out a Sicce replacement - Within 5 minutes I had an replacement on the way and within hours I had tracking

I'm trying....but they are making it hard.
