i just installed the 6 stage RODI 75 gpd Plus system from BRS. My source water is quite high at 320 TDS. My water pressure is low at 35psi. After running the system for the first hour I’m seeing a TDS of 4ppm. Is this expected? Is this acceptable?

You should have no TDS after 1 hour. 35 psi is too low for proper use of the RO membrane. You will need to get a booster pump. Be sure the last stage is DI resin and just before that the RO membrane.

If that reading of 4 TDS is after the membrane but before the di, it is very good.

Yeah I agree too much TDS but I know it would help a lot to put a booster pump on my water pressure is about the same, I run a booster pump

mfinn, now you raise a question. My system has the Tripple TDS Meter. Line one reads 4ppm. Lines two and three read zero. Which line reads for what?

Lapin, the dual DI is the last stage in the set up.

Thanks for the help.

So out of the RO 4 is ok. Out of the DI = O .......you are ok to use the O water

Oh yeah you must switch the switch glad you found it if you make a lot of water I still recommend a booster pump it will cut your waste water too

Okay, I can answer my own question. Line one is the reading coming into the dual DI. Line two is for the first DI. Line three is the water coming out of the system. So, I’m getting 0 TDS.

Now,what about the low PSI? At this point is the booster necessary fro anything?higher GPD?

I just got my BRS 150 RODI hooked up with a booster pump mine runs with the pump at about 80 PSI

I ran a test. It took 13 minutes to collect 4cups of rodi water! That means I’ll make just a little over a gallon per hour. That’s sloooow. I would guess the booster would be a great help.

Di resin is last stage, after membrane

With 35 psi you’d have to use under 50 gpd membrane at best.
Get s booster pump.
Why so low on psi. City water? Where did you tap supply for rodi unit?

On well water you can adjust pressure for whole house at the well switch/control. Would also check to see your booster tank is functioning/ bladder pressurized. Easy to do.

Also, on well water you don’t need to run carbon blocks on rodi

Wells typically run on what's called a 30/50 switch. Which means when the pressure in your holding tank drops to 30PSI the pump kicks in and pumps it back up to 50 PSI and then shuts off again.

np

The tank that is next to /attached to the well control switch is not a holding tank, it’s a pressure tank. If the bladder in tank is ruptured or not inflated to proper psi water pressure will suffer

Shake the tank. If it’s filled with water instead of air you need s new one. If it’s not filled with water check pressure with air gauge, same as for your car tires. If it needs air use a pump, same as for your bicycle. In a couple of days check pressure again. If it held it’s likely good. If it didn’t hold you need s new tank.

@dwalson
Where is water coming from that supplies rodi?
Saddle tap?
Is pressure in whole house low?
Whole house water filter?

@theMeat i have the unit attached to a utility sink in the laundry room. Pressure is low like this in the whole house.

I’ll check my pressure tank and also see if I need to adjust the pressure too.

Thanks for the help all!

Dave

@theMeat i adjusted the screw on the switch. Now I get 50psi. It jumps higher to about 70 but then settles to 50 (I that normal?).

Anyway, is 50psi good for a 75gpd system or should I go higher?
