I like NOPOx and MB7 or BioDigest from prodibio. Both really seem to eat the detritus out of the rocks. The bacterial slime that's produced with regular carbon dosing seems to really feed pods like crazy too, and they end up all over my tank.

Once there isn't any green algae in your system it will be easier to maintain small but detectable amounts of NO3 and PO4. All that bryopsis sucks all that stuff up quick.
Yeah I had great success with vodka and mb7 with my previous tank. I didn't start it with this tank because my tank was already too clean. I do however dose mb7

I have some of those big green palys. They live on a rock in my sandbed. They came mixed in with some goochester zoas, which are thriving quite nicely, next to the big green palys. Hopefully they won't escape their little island prison.
Mine went everywhere. I am going to have to remove the acros off those rocks and replace them. I already removed about 8 rocks that were covered in them. In this picture there were none on this rock when I attached this pretty little yellow table.

great Q&A @steve01

Maybe add a few notes to tell everyone;
  1. to do a WC BEFORE treatment,
  2. normal dosings for colors, alk, calcium, magnesium etc are ok to continue,
  3. carbon dosing is ok to continue,
  4. leave lights as normal,
  5. when taking carbon / GFO etc offline to clean offline equipment and change media to stop reintroduction of bryopsis on start up that may be trapped in them,
  6. don't remove anything from the tank/sump like corals, chaeto etc and reintroduce them after treatment.
I'm glad you mentioned not removing and reintroduce anything... it reminded me that I better put my chaeto back in the sump before the treatment. I removed it because vibrant was killing it.

Thanks :)

Nice and clean rocks Rick. I am absolutely amazed by nicely colored corals you guys have in the states. I never saw one as colorful as that back here in Borneo, even though we are surrounded by the largest reef system in the world.

Those are all frags from World Wide Corals, so you have to figure they are some of the best pieces from around the globe!

Your tank is killer, hopefully one day mine will grow in half as nice as yours!

Should be no problem getting there Rick. The states reefers community is large and experienced. I wish I can get some of those nice pieces somehow.

72 hours in and bryopsis is melting away. BEAUTIFUL SIGHT!! I have to stop and look at my tank every time I walk by. :):):) Been taking pictures each day, will try to post. Thanks all, for your time and effort!! Oh, forgot to mention, no affect on livestock, fish, sps, lps, softies, rbta. Everything looks great!!

YAY!!! AWESOME NEWS!!!!

Checked tracking.... looks like the meds may arrive Friday (haha- today)! Can't wait! But I think I will still start the meds on Saturday due to wc and babysitting the grand baby. I want to have time to prepare test, take pics and document day 1 [emoji12]

Christmas came early

Great work with the FAQ, looks perfect!

I have found a source of single 150mg capsules here in Australia at $11AUDeach. Might be my best option. To save money and potential embarrassment of ordering all the chemist has, do we have any updates on what lowest dosing amounts people have successfully used so far? 5mg per gallon, 10mg per gallon or only 20mg per gallon?

Did a 3mg gallon treatment. I am only on day two, no results or observations yet. Post #932

This is the lowest dosage we have on record. I really hope it works!

hope so too, if it doesn't will dose heavy and be done with it. If it is effective that would be great, save hobbyists a little coin and not have to dose as much since we still don't know the long term effect of the meds. I have been dealing with Bryopsis for years, so to wait a little longer if it doesn't work, I am ok with that. A little off topic but a straight dose of lanthanum chloride injected directly into the algae kills it pretty dead. Down side is the lanthanum kills coral tissue and bleaches out coralline. I was gaining on the weed with lanthanum but gave that method up after nearly wiping out a few corals. I am still pretty excited about this new breakthrough, can't imagine having Bryopsis free tanks. thanks guys for all your hard work

Mine comes tomorrow. I have about 320 gallons system. Figure less 20% for rock about 250 gallons water. So going to do 25 caps.

Any chance it will knock out my colonial hydroids as well... lol.
