Obviously I still have to wait to see if the treatment will eliminate 100% of the bryopsis (I'm only on day three, so I can't draw any conclusions), however even with the gfo and skimmer online, most of my bryopsis has turned white and is starting to melt away. If successful, this might provide some support to the idea of leaving gfo online to take care of the uptake in phosphate released by the dying bryopsis/gha.

I also kept my gfo online and tested by nitrates and phos this am, nitrates rose to 1 ppm from .5 ppm. Phos from 0.03 to 0.04.

I believe that if i took the gfo offline then phos might have shot up.

I am also dosing nopox and bibrant biweekly. I had been dosing vibrant for almost two months and it did nothing for my bryopsis.

I am contemplating stopping vibrant as I have a cyano problem now. It should be noted that I had cyano prior to starting my treatment.

I treated my 120G reef with 12 capsules of Fluconzole a week ago. I did not have a bad infestation of Bryopsis, but there was enough that I wanted it out. I never stopped my PS and took AC and GFS off line of the first five days. Everything is gone now. This stuff is great.

1/2 Dose in 45g does not appear to be enough. Algae is still growing. A cuc was added on Tuesday of 2 Mexican turbos, 5 astrea, 5 margarita and 5 scarlet legs. This should be more than enough for a newly cycled 45 with no livestock. I imaging it's on the sb because I added 2 cups of sand from the dt to this tank and the rock originated from the dt also.

I accidentally used a half dose in my reefbowl, and I concur with prsnlty that it doesn't seem to be enough. I added another half dose three days in.

Now it's six days in and it doesn't seem the fluconazone is taking effect. I still see several little strands of algae and they are green, not white. The snails are pretty thorough, so if it were dying, I would think it would be disappearing faster. (FWIW I've been controlling the bryopsis with weekly peroxide spot treatments, so I don't have any huge patches to show. There will be no dramatic before/after pics)

Tomorrow is the day I usually do a weekly 100% water change. I'm not sure how to proceed. I could skip the water change and add another full dose of flucon, or do the water change and dose flucon after. If I do the water change, it will allow me to treat the algae with peroxide--a form of insurance in case the flucon doesn't work. If I don't do the water change, another full dose could make for a larger cumulative dose of flucon to destroy the algae for good. What do you guys think?

Day 5 180g:
All algae is now turning white even in the dark locations now. Turned skimmer back on last night. This is like watching a pot waiting for it to boil lol! That being said I'm going to get back to the rest of my life and check back in on Saturday with a 1 week (1/2 way) update. I'll take pics and do a video then also.

Oh before I forget... it appears that I have very small beginnings of red turf growing on the loc-line return. Maybe it's due to po4 increase? It didn't exist in this system before. Any ideas on stopping it before it gets bad?

Personally after seeing the po4 get high fast I would do your wc then do a full dose of fluconazole.

I have to order more fluconazole to do this but that's ok because I will also be dosing a 29g setup. I had 2 left from my main displays order so I thought to try a 1/2 dose on the 45 just to see how it would do. I am going to hold off though in case I have to reorder for the 180 and then just do it all at once.

I might stop treatment, and dose chemi clean. My spirulina is getting worse, worried about it overtaking coral. How should I go about it? Large water change, run carbon, then add the chemi?

We almost have 100 users on record!
Sweet!

I haven't voted in the poll yet though because I would rather state my final results. Because everybody who says they're in progress of treating isn't an absolute yes or no.

Can you post a pic of spirulina
I had a little starting at the water line (due to Vibrant I believe). As I shaped it my tangs chased me and ate it as fast as they could. If you have tangs, scrape don't brush or scrub off. Wouldn't do that anyway for fear of getting out of control. Mine has not been seen since.

I've never experienced it before. Don't know really how to control it for the next two weeks. Do I blow it off my rocks? Reduce my lighting period, increase flow?

Day 12 and I think it's growing back now. May have to do a second dose....
Maybe the dose wasn't enough to completely consume everything. I'm thinking that it depends on how much you have plus the water volume for dosage. I'm thinking that the dosage we use as a base model for a moderate amount of algae. I think if there are huge clusters of long overgrown algae it takes longer and may not absorb as much of the medication. I say this because I left a few clusters a very thick long algae to see how it would affect it. And it definitely takes much longer in my tank.
