I would add a bunch of Mexican turbos if you can. Once I did that mine vanished. More light in the shaded areas also helps but I wouldn't pull, scrape or brush the algae off. I had a couple of really bad rocks that I experimented on by pulling during treatment. Those rocks took longest to die.
I added some snails, and all the turbos I added are clustered around the outlet return line at the water line, half out of the water. Weirdest thing...

Has anyone seen how this effects macros? It was very successful in my nano but I'm a little worried to try in my main tank because of all the macro I own.

This stuff worked wonders on my gha. It takes a week to really start seeing it. My suggestion is dose more than the recommended amount: turn off skimmer uv and kick up the amount of light to shaded areas and run your lights longer. Increasing clean up crew is also a huge help.
I agree Brandon. Only thing I would add is to harvest as much as possible before treating. I have an additional light on each side of my tank shining inward from the sides and that has helped wit areas that were not affected during my first dosing. My 4 year battle with gha may be coming to a close with me as the victor!!!!!!!!

Will do!

That is very strange behavior. Maybe there's something else going on in your system that you're not aware of?

Can you check your tanks parameters?

Why don't you just place another order? I ordered enough for two treatments just in case and got the order in two days from across the country for extra $7 shipping.
+1
The next time I see any bryopsis I'm going to get enough to treat and stock up :)

Yes! That is a solid add on and something I wish I would of done more of before dosing but I was two excited to get the stuff in the tank lol. And you'll be there as well in no time!

The little bit of chaeto I have in my little refugium has not been effected so far.
Reefguy,
Did this treatment kill 100% of your algae? Just curious because several are saying that it only got 70 or 80 percent of their algae.
I can see a difference (it's been 5 full days tonight) but it has a lot to go to get 100%.
My case is different I guess because I just funished up three weeks of Algae Fix (an algaecide that has worked for me for many years on gha. I just use every 3 days as directed at a higher dose with no harm to fish or coral. The problem I just had after the last treatment (the day I started yours) is two areas looked like your tank, Zoas and Palys had the mess stuffed inside the mats. The rest of the tank was cured so this is the reason I started this treatment. As said earlier I downsized from three tanks from acros and montipora and large fish to one LPS and zoo tank with Anthias because for health reasons I needed a smaller tank with easier fish and corals ( I target feed corals heavily CF .5 pellets, reef-roids,Zooplanktos-M, reef flakes and lots of heavy food. I skim heavy and get a cup of some foul **** every night and my Acan lords, Scoly, Lobos and favia, etc look color gorgeous and feeders are always covering them.
I don't think the med is responsible for killing my Platy frags because my colonies are fine. I just think I can't go this long without my skimmer and if the treatment doesn't get 100% it might be best for my situation to just stick with Algae Fix and a manual pulling from the Paly colony now and then so I can still run my skimmer. The way I understand it, the Algae Fix algaecide is out of your water after about 24 hours. (Kinda works like my pool)That's why you can dose it every three days permanently if needed. I think it's wonderful you started this thread and have helped so many people, just really worried it may not be right for my situation as I don't want to see any losses. What would you do? Turn on the skimmer?

I would just leave your skimmer on if it's going to impact your system that much. Some people have skimmed during the entire treatment and it still worked for them(some it didn't). You may end up having to run a second or even third treatment if you skim too much of the meds out but that shouldn't be a problem.

After how long do you do second dose? I'm 3 days in and no signs of improvement

You don't usually see any signs until day 4-5. Bryopsis is about 14 days and gha up to 21 or so

Yeah I guess I'm just a little impatient seeing some posts that people are seeing changes the first day
Not sure why that is other than they may have had only a small amount of bryopsis. On average it is day 4 you begin to see white tips. GHA may take a couple days more.

There are many variables as every tank is different but some things are pretty consistent to each species when dosing the correct amount.

Hi and good work on this thread, so many people having great results, im planning on doing the treatment myself.. i have a 100L system give or take and im looking to dose 300mg of fluc. my system is non mechanical filtration just a box of rocks and an algae bed in the sump which has cheato calpura and hair algae growing in it.
my plan is to take the sump of line for a day, empty it clean it remove the algae. return the lr and put it back on line and start the treatment.. my question is.
with all the dying algae polluting the water column as it dies off wont this cause massive spikes in p03 and p04? i plan on doing a 50% wc at the end of the 14 days and possibly syphoning the dt thro a filter sock everyday during the treatment. im just concerned that huge swings in parameters will occur and at the moment my system is balanced well, i dont want to ruin the last years work just to rid some algae from my DT! im scared : ( can someone put my mind at rest and tell me its all going to be ok lol

Having different weapons to battle these pesky problematic infestation is always good. As we all know " results vary! ". I've had great luck with Vibrant. My whole tank was bubble algae. Now it's free and clear. Did take a few months of treatment. I was very easy with it at first, but once I saw no ill effects I upped the dosage. It's now part of my weekly matainance. I will say that Vibrant definitely affects macro algea.
