I cut the dosage in half. I felt that waiting two weeks between dosage by the end of the two weeks it wouldn't be as effective and dosing weekly would keep it working more consistently...kind of like dosing alk or mag...you dose consistently rather than dumping a lot in all at once.

I just realized I confused two threads. I've been using Vibrant also. For the flconazole I just did one recommended dose.

Carbon and water change seem in order. Really sorry about your problems. I haven't seen anyone else report that. Did you dose the standard amount? Did you have a while lot of bryopsis? Maybe it was the amount of die off?

I have about 300 gallons and dosed 6,000 mg.

That sounds right. I would assume that you have lots of flow with a tank that big, so turning the skimmer off wouldn't be that big if a deal? Did the nitrates jump up? Anything special you are dosing that might have interacted?

Just an update on mine after a couple months since medicating my tank.

I'm free from bryopsis and GHA ever since I used the medicine. I had some residual bryopsis that hung in there for several days after the treatment time was up but it to finally succumbed. I finally did a 15 gallon water change last week. I should have done it sooner but nothing was hurt. Tank is clean and vibrant now

I have plenty of flow. PH did drop a little bit nothing that would be an issue. I did add some phosphate RX because I assumed a PO4 spike was coming. Yesterday was .03 and now is .06, so after 15 drops it still went up.

I'm at 3 weeks of treatment.. a lot is gone .. but maybe 25% remains, including some very healthy looking short carpetlike algae ( turf algae?.. looks like grass.. short and compact growth)
Will dose a second treatment I guess, but should I do a wc first or just piggyback the meds?
The Seahorses have been uneffected thankfully.. for any concerned about treating them , as is my chaeto, codium and dragons breath.

Things seem to be better today. I may need to do a second treatment but the algae is still dyeing off for now.

Well it appears it is a total fail for me and my battle with GHA. 5 weeks, two doses, NOTHING. I guess it is time for a second breakdown ( first was for Cyano) and a reset. Just have to figure out how to get my corals off my live rock. Hate to think I will lose all my feather dusters. time for a breakdown and HO2 dip

Sorry to hear that. It's been kind of hit or miss with some peoples GHA it seems and definitely better for bryopsis. Hopefully you won't lose your corals while breaking everything down. If I can't get rid of this brown slime(dinos) crud that I've been struggling with,I will be right there with you breaking mine down too.

Of course check your nutrients that you put in so you get to the root of the problem, but dude, you never need to go to that extreme. Have you tried aeration and bacteria dosing. It will make that hair algae pull right off.

Anybody wanna weigh in? Due for next dose as it's been 3 weeks now ..

I did two doses two weeks apart no skimming or water changes. I have seen some weird snail die off but I cannot attribute it to Fluconazole. I still have Bryopsis die off but not anywhere near 100%. Like I said before it'll be months for me to conclusively say it's gone for good. Either way it's nice to have knocked this weed on its butt.

If your nutrient levels aren't high then I would just go ahead with your second dose without the wc.

Thanks!.. fingers crossed it'll be the final nail in the coffin. Hoping it will also weaken the short bulletproof patches of unidentified evil eventually .. but bryopsis is like 50% gone so it's a start :)

I have tried all of that. I only have three small fish. feed three times a week only a few pellets, did aggressive water changes, ran GFO, reduced lights, tried critters that would eat it, tried several additives. Nothing has really gotten rid of it. I am going to try and remove the corals from the rocks ( manly paly's, and mushrooms,) and do the peroxide dip, reset the sandbed as well. I have some extra live rock that has been sitting in salt water for months but afraid it will need to cycle.

Anybody excited about bryopsis starting to grow in your tank so you can kill it?

LOL!

just wondering where everyone is getting fluconazole from? Ive searched the web but everything ive found you need a script.
