ah okay thank u!!! how may days in are you? are ur nitrates and phosphates up yet?

Today is day 6 for me. I tested last night before lights out and NO3 was 10 and PO4 was .079...so I'd say they're probably 2-3x higher than the usual for me.

I had no problem with phosguard, keep it in i say.

After two treatments.......and no visible Bryopsis for a month...I now have the sprigs of bryopsis showing up in the same areas as before........In the previous treatments I removed all carbon and shutoff skimmer for 14 days...I have a 45 gallon tank and both times I dosed 5 capsules. Not sure what to do now or how much to dose. This seems to be a temporary fix.........knocks it down but not out! Advise anyone?

As everithing, its not a magic bullet so it needs to solve the main problem of alll algae outbreaks, use the right light spectrum, right photoperiod, put in check your nutrient levels, and then you will be succesfull keeping clean the thank after killing the dreaded bryopsis.

Can I still run my Bio-media (biolpellets) with this? And how about GFO for the phophates? I KNOW not to run carbon but i'm a little confused about GFO and phosphate and how long i should keep them off or on when starting?

No GFO.

Please check out my plan:

I have 300 total gallons
Dosed 6,000 mg last Wednesday and about 80% of the bryopsis is gone but some still remains.

I was forced to turn my skimmer and Carbon back on after just 5 days as I had two acros RTN.

I plan to change ~150 gallons of water and redose.

Should I wait it out and see it the remaining bryopsis dies off or can I go ahead and do a second full dose? Or should I hold on the water change and do a 1/2 or full dose again?

Those folks who did a second dose, how did you manage it, did it work, would you do something different?

If you just dosed your tank last Wednesday,I would wait another week or so to see what is left. If the algae is still dying off,you may not need a second dose. Some people dosed one time and waited a month until all of their algae was gone without having to retreat their tank.

150 gallons on a 300 gallon system is a lot of water to change at one time I would not change that much I would do 25% at most and then follow up with another one a week later

I haven't had any of my bryopsis to return. Once you kill it all even the roots,it won't return unless you reintroduce it into your tank. GHA on the other hand, can return when ever your nutrients levels are high enough for it to grow.

If you're sure you have bryopsis(fern like blades) then you must have had some roots left in those areas. I would retreat the tank and let it go for more than 14 days just to make sure that all of the roots are gone this time.

What have people used to remove excess nutrients after die off? WC is helpful but limited reduction, could do weekly but a lot of work

well yesterday I basically broke the tank down and reset it. 95% water change. Took most of the sand bed out and rinsed well, put back about 1/4 inch layer to keep stuff happy. Did a 50/50 peroxide dip on the frags and syringed all the rock with the same mix. ( could not dip due to corals and nems on the rocks) I did kill off a ton of little worms ( not sure if they were bristles as they were small) One observation is ALL of my CUC are gone with the exception of one little snail. Not sure what was going on with that
I may run another dose of fluconazole if I still see GHA. This is such a frustrating hobby. Off to the LFS to get a new CUC.

the Bryopsis story over here.

I have a little tank running. This is a sera 130 led cube (130 liters dunno how much gallon that is)
I had an outbreakof almost everything . Bryopsis hair algae cyano dinoflagelates .
Mindset whent to the freezing point . But after some working the parameters the cyano vanished.

I started the flucanozole treatment 4 days ago. I used 8 capsules of 200mg for 130 liters. Strangely i actualy cant sea any results yet since may lights are out due to the dinoflagelates. Monday wil be the great reveal.
I hope this one helps. or else it will be a greater dose.

Luckely this happend in the small tank and not the big one (whn we still had it , was good for about 700 liters)

i will be posting a pre and after picture as soon as i can ;)

I am so glad I came across this thread. Like many others here, I had bryopsis taking over my 29g at an alarming rate. I treated the tank a month ago and am happy to report 100% success. It effectively nuked every last bit of bryopsis with no recurrences :)

I kept my skimmer running during the entire treatment and did not notice major changes until about weeks 2-3.

My dragon's breath macro did melt away about 2 months after the treatment but I think is probably unrelated. Lettuce nudi also sadly starved to death :(

Anyways, here are some pics of the areas before and after!

So for the first 2 weeks, I didn't notice any major visual changes to the algae. It turned a little lighter gray but that was about it. The algae melted away when I stopped inspecting it daily sometime between weeks 2-3. I wouldn't worry much since you're only about 1 week into the treatment. I also under dosed by only using about 1.5 capsules so I figured it would take longer to kick in.

The algae dies faster when you stop looking at it ;)

Just wanted to report that it killed ulva algae. It took about 2 weeks. So if anyone is dealing with it and was wondering if this would work; it does :)

I have a retail business with 3 raceway style tanks all connected together. About a 1,000 corals sps, lps and softies. No negative results. Thank you for sharing this product. Not to often we get solutions to problembs that work this fast and not have any negative issues. Big leap forward in this hobby! I am sure it will save 100's if not 1,000's of people from getting out.

Made it to day 12 and had to perform water change. GHA dying off good but my sps are dying. Other thing that might have played a part in this, added a bicolor blenny that has been kicking up sand that hasn't moved in a while. Added purigen back to tank and did 5 gallon water change. Looks like flesh is dying but I can still see polyps? Sound familiar to you sps keepers? Seems to be affecting montis first but now acros are getting similiar reaction. Such a bummer!

I have a ton of SPS and it did not affect mine even after 2 treatments. I'm sorry this happened to yours :(
Edit; What are your no3 levels? Could they have starved?

Need to get a new kit.. I have been dosing small doses of acropower. I am a novice with sps so it probably something else. What's weird is just the other day they were all coloring up well and really growing. It's like overnight, bam.. going downhill :(
