Hi All. Looking to find confirmation ID for this nem. We already have various Bubbletips but something is bugging me about this one and we are trying to identify an issue.
I.D- Purchased as Green BTA 1st photo theday we put in in the tank (right nem)
2nd Picture 3 weeks later coloured up (back nem)
Its foot when contracted is red and its much larger than the others.

Issue- 1 week after adding it our most of our other nems started acting strange, they excrete more often than usual meaning they contract/wilt more often than usual, they are not moving around the tank and accept food. We also run carbon.
So I am not sure if we have a chemical issue between them or something else we need to address, our parameters are all in check and we have one green BTA with orange tips that does not have an issue.

It looks like a ritteri to me as well. I do not think it is a BTA.

Must be more opinions on this.
I agree. 90 views and 2 responses is sad. Try posting this on reef central in the anemone section. There's more traffic there, or atleast more are typically willing to respond over there. Sometimes all fish forums are slow.

But just a FYI, BTA typically bubble a little distance from the tip. Mags, IF, they bubble which is rare, bubble ON the tip, not a distance down from the tip. Can you see white lines around the mouth on the disk? That's another sure sign BTA.
Mags like insane high flow and typically climb as high as they can for high light, just to mention some of the behavior differences between the two. Does it deflate and pull back at night? Another sign of a BTA behavior, although some BTA don't deflate, mags never/rarely do unless in trouble. Although opinions won't change what it is, it's a cool looking nem anyways! I hope you like it.

Can you get a picture of the mouth? BTA's have little white lines extending outward from the mouth.

The tentacles look like a Ritteri to me.

Thank's for the replies, its difficult to get a pic of the mouth in its current position but here are a couple from above with the flow off, best I can do at the moment.
Its certainly not got masses of flow and has made no effort to move towards the light, not sure if it retracts at night I will check this evening. The main reason for this thread was to determine if there could be some chemical release from the new nem as the others are unusually sulky but we fed the large BTA's in our bigger tank on Saturday and on Sunday they were acting exactly the same, completely shrivelled with different mucousy poo. These have recovered fully now but the muscle we feed is quite old and I'm thinking this may be the problem?

Here's a pic of the large BTA's in our other tank, difficult to get an idea of the size but the clown in the photo is close to 3 inches.

one of my 10 Magnificas

An exceptionally well colored BTA/ E.quad, the color does make it look a good bit like a Mag though.
Seems like a lot of LFS are using the ID Ritteri lately but Magnifica is the more appropriate ID

It's been awhile since the op replied. I wonder how his anemones are doing now and if everything cleared up.

The nem turned out to be unmistakably a Ritteri, and died after swallowing a Turbo snail which eventually came out of the side of its foot and it never recovered, never seen anything like it. After that all the other nems are doing really well and thank's a lot for asking. Below is a current pic.

That's interesting. Didn't realize by eating a snail it would kill itself but makes sense. Those anemones look very nice. I hope to have a tank full of bubble tips someday.
