Awesome shot! I have been looking at macro lenses and have a few questions. Are you using the tamron 90mm macro lens for this picture? Do you take the picture using a tripod? How far is the camera lens from the coral?

The acros in my frag tank are close to the surface and I dont have any lenses that allow me to take a top down picture with a topdown viewer, the corals are too close to focus on.

Yes that picture was with the Tamron 90mm. No tripod but I do use the porthole viewer and lean it against the tank rim to try and hold it as still as possible. I think I’m about 10 - 12” from lens to coral. My tank is shallow also with the corals being in about 8” of water so it’s hard to do a straight top down so I have to do it more from the side. I save this one area in my frag tank that I move all the corals to when I take pics just so they are close enough and it allows me rest the lens instead of holding it in the air reaching across the tank trying to hold it still.

One of the best threads bubba!
Thanks bud.

Yeah, I was thinking I may have to have a designated spot to move a coral to for pictures, probably makes things easier anyways having the same conditions/lighting for every photo.

I want it!

I feel like your photography skills are getting better and I'm slowly regressing. [emoji19] Now I'm officially jealous! [emoji7]

No water changes, skimmer and 2 refugiums.
This is the display refugium, the caulerpa on the right is on the powerhead.
I monitor how it is growing, it gives me an idea where my nutrients are, I don't test really, mainly kh when I remember. ;)
They called me crazy when I said I bought Coral Essentials coral power trace B, ... metals! :P

So... I rewatched "Chasing Coral" yesterday, and they said "Stone-corals only grow about 1 cm per year".

You wanna go tell them how wrong they are bubba? :p:D

That's ridiculous growth!
Thanks!

I hope everybody is getting more than 1 cm per year. That seems really slow to me.

Same, and I'm not even remotely close to your levels of growth, but 1 cm of growth can't be right... Scientists
I'm pretty sure that's the rate I grew at during my teenage years. [emoji22]

Not the prettiest coral but I do like the growth structure of it. I have had some slowed growth recently but when the tank is on point the growth tips get a nice bright blue color.
