Exactly.
Sometimes if you find it in the sump, well, leave it in the sump. my old 90g had all kind of crazy nasty algae and cyano in the sump/refugium. never saw any in the DT. One day i got it in my head that it needed to be cleaned up. I did and within the week I had the same stuff in the DT. Now anything that grows in the refugium get harvested a little at a time just like every other macro.
