Help! I just got this Bubble sea anemone from a local shop just yesterday and today I woke up to this.....

1617149577189.png

Not sure what's going on. I took most readings.
Salinity= 1.026
Temp= 78
Nitrate= 0
Nitrite= 0
Ammonia 0
Calcium= 0
Ph= 7.8-8.0
I'm puzzled and am need of anybody's help!

That's a lot of zeros going on. Guessing there are some discrepancies. Some info about your tank may help. How long has it been running? What type of lighting are you using? I don't recognize what kind of rock and substrate you have going on there either.

Give it some days to acclimate to your tank. Are you using tap water?

Tank age and surely yr calcium isn’t 0? Anemones need mature and stable tanks to be kept and also need some nitrate as they use as food source and need strong lighting
That is not completely truth. I have new tank, 3 months old and my anemones are totally fine. Here is a picture. No too strong lights either.

There's always exceptions to the rule. Doesn't make it good practice. Many others have failed when introducing nems too early.

Mature in a sense that biologically there shouldn’t be many changes , I can start a new tank with live rock and live sand and place anemone it’s a different story when starting dry rock / dry sand. Love ye nems tho!

Anemones are fickle little creatures, even though some have good look adding it quite early it is always good to just wait to have a mature tank. That way you aren't wasting you money for something to die off with a week.

Calcium can't possibly be zero with your salinity at 1.026. I would double check all your test results. Nitrate should be 10-20 ideally for a BTA. What are your phosphates? It looks like your tank is new, which is generally a recipe for disaster with BTAs.

I totally agree with you that the numbers doesn't make any sense! I had purchased an API master saltwater and a reef kit on Offer up. Used, and some of the bottles didn't have an exp. date stamped on it. I went ahead and ordered a new kit yesterday. Does the picture of the BTA bring any ideas as to what's going on? The new kit is scheduled to get to me on 4/5. Just reaching!

How long has your tank been up and running for?
About 4 months. I cycled the tank using a few small hermit crabs and a blue fin damsel . All were hardy and well. Since my goal was to have clownfish, I removed the damsel and replaced it a few days later with 2 small clowns.
A few days later I introduced the BTA into the tank.

If you ordered the same API kit I would return it an get some decent test kits. Salifert is my preference for most things. Hanna has some good kits as well, excluding CA. A lot of people like Redsea kits. You should not need nitrite on ammonia kits at this point.
4 months is pretty new for an anemone, especially if you used dry rock. Your lack of nitrates is also an issue, as it is a direct food source for BTAs.

I thank you for the info. as my last wish is to cause these animals to die because of my lack of knowledge!

I wouldn't do anything yet just be patient and wait. It is more then likely just getting used to its new home. Also, nems will shrivel up during dark hours sometimes and also if something spooks them.

This one is secreting a mucous type substance that has me alarmed. Unless I hear otherwise from you folks, I'll continue to monitor him/her until I am sure .

Sometimes it's just pooping and no big deal. If it starts to look like it's melting get it out of there. Tell us more about your tank. I can't tell what substrate you used and that doesn't look like live rock.

Too late to return it as I ordered it from ebay, and it is arriving today
