Hellol everybody
My name is kyle iam new to the reefing community.
I've started out with a 45 gallon satlwater tank
That seems to be doing great i have zoanthids that seem to be thriving close polyps doing well
But my Green Bubbly tip anenome dosent seem to be doing so hot he has a little. It of white start on the end of his tenticles
My water temp is 78.9
Salinity is 1.025
Nitrate 0
Ph great
Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Iam running 2 willis lights aqarium lights 165 wats
I run one light blue moon for 12
I run the other at a 50 50 mixed with whites and blues inwas told the anenome needs good light so that's the side that has its whites
White goes off around 6 pm then transitions into evening
I have a 110 gallon filter for my 45 gallon tank
I know it might be a little big but I've been told to go big incase you wanna upgrade down the rode
I do not have a wave maker yet saving for that next please help and let me know what I could be doing wrong pics will be in the following thread

Did he walk himself down there? If so, it might be getting too much light.

Yes he walked down there by himself.
I feed reef roids right now
And my schedual has been every 2 to 3 days
My alkalinity seems like it's in the great from what the strips are telling me
I unfortunately do not have test kits yet for magnisuim and calcium and alkalinity besides the strips for alk
I have both my lights running at there lowest setting cause I figured I'd be better to give em less then to much
When I picked him up from the local store he was kept in a tank that had no light at all pretty much the anenome was tucked in the corner looked great and healthy seemed almost as if it was flourishing iam affrid maybe the transition from both places was 2 much
I've had him now for about 3 to 4 weeks

Here another pic of him right now at this moment

you’re going to have to feed him something with more protein than reef roids. I feed my 8 inch RBTA a whole shrimp once. I suggest getting an all test kit as strips aren’t very accurate. Alkalinity can be a silent killer at times. When it drops below 7, you’ll tend to start having problems. I keep mine around 8-8.25. Your anemone might also want some more flow. It looks a bit closed up. I feed my nem IQF pro salt krill.

How long has your tank been set up for? I'm suspecting the tank is fairly new, nems need a tank that's at least 6 mos old or longer, more stable.

What is “good” for nitrates? I don’t think age is a problem. I think your nutrition is the problem. My nem went into my tank at the 3 month mark and has never been ticked off. I also used live rock/sand and monitored my water thoroughly.

I currently have 9 nems in one tank & 2 in another and they do well in stable params & temp. I see more posts about nems not doing well and in most cases it's a new reefer with bad advice from LFS selling them a nem. There's dozens of posts monthly, there should be a "nem police thread" (AKA tang police) Rant over...

Hahaha yeah the guy at one of my lfs’s doesn’t even know what the heck he is selling half the time? Told me chalices were sps last time and that a lepto was a favia

That's a major part of the problem. (My apologies to OP, not trying to derail thread) Many reefers are excited to have a nem and many LFS are more than willing to sell them not knowing (or caring) what buyer has for an established aquarium. This just chafes my A$%^$.

Need to get some water movement in there asap...

Might be Light,,,
New systems are so bright with everything so new,,I had MH in my 180g system and my Carpet hid,,lol,,
went with radions gen 4pro and he walked everywhere for about 3 mnths and at last parked himself under one of them and has grown to about 24in across,,
also agree with more protein and more movement,,my RT Anemone loves all the flow he can get,,

I really don’t see any problems at all.
Keep lighting as normal, you cannot have too much light, same with flow....stop making changes.
A nem will sit where he wants to, you have no control.

But ensure your water parameters are in the traditional zones and stability....stability.....stability....that’s what works....

This is a complete myth. My tank started with new rock and sand. 1ish months old. I just fragged my Colorado sunburst. Nems needs stability. That's all.

Believe what you want, IMO tank should be stable and somewhat mature.

Maturity is stability. That’s it. New tanks are usually all over the place. That’s why we say mature tanks only.
