As long as you're not in the process of purposefully starving your tank (are you? it's surprisingly popular), the algae growing is almost surely a good thing no matter how it looks.
Cyano gets a bad rap, but it's a key player as it brings nitrogen into the system (from the air) exactly where it's needed.
If it starts taking over, then something else is going on....but that doesn't happen during the Uglies™ phase.
Keep all your moves small and move slowly in between moves, and everything will work out fine.![]()
