Need some help here. Not sure if anyone has been through this, but i get bubbles forming on my live rock after the lights have been on for hours. The bubbles also come out from under the sand. The tank is about 6 months old, and established. Have not seen any true signs of Dino’s. I know bubbles forming with lights on is a sign, but i have not seen any brown snot like stuff. Any help would be awesome! I’m lost here. Lol

You probably Just have micro bubbles from power heads and they just get caught in the rocks there’s nothing to be worried about. Algae and bacteria can cause it too but you don’t have any from what I can see.

When i don’t have lights on the bubbles don’t form.

Did they start right away? Or did they start once you saw life starting to happen?

Started about a month into the tank being setup. So right around the time life was coming around. I think it’s something with the sand since the bubbles mostly come out of the sand, but they also form on the rock.

It’s oxygen production from some kind of biological process. Probably some kind of algae. I’d not worry about it.
It’s been going on for 5 months now, and is annoying. I can’t run my lights at full power or else there will be bubbles everywhere. I wish i didn’t have to worry about it lol

Is there any red algae I know cyano bubbles a lot

Doesn't look like dinos to me! I had dinos in my coral QT recently... and you will definitely see the dino mats with bubbles if it's dinos. Your rocks are clean.

It’s times like these i wish i had a microscope!! I sure hope it’s not Dino’s! It doesn’t mar up like you said. Just forms bubbles somehow

The tank is 6months old. Idk Dino’s wouldn’t make a mat in such a new tank?

Time will tell but it doesn't look likely to be dinos. Like @ca1ore said, anything that is photosynthetic could produce O2 bubbles. Your rock looks very "young" for 6 months old. What are your nutrient levels? Have you had any visible macroalgae in the tank?

I started with dry rock as I’m sure you can tell lol no other algae’s in the rock. Nitrates are 10ppm Salifert kit, and phosphate was 0.06 with a Hanna ULR

I meant worry in the sense that i don’t see anything yet problematic; feel free to fuss over it though (it’s an occupational hazard for we reefers).

Don't panic. At six months old your tank is still settling in seeking it's own stability. Things will come and go as it matures. Algae is a cosmetic problem and a possible reflection of over feeding.

Hm if they start after turning after the lights on, kind of sounds like photosynthesis for some reason or the onset of a forthcoming bloom.

Any algae present we do not see in the pics?

There are some cyano spots, but this doesn’t look the same. I do agree that there is some kinda bacterial bloom, but i was just worried this was Dino’s. Lol i love to worry a lot. Today the tank looks the best it ever has. I’ll post a pic. I’m also in the middle of going bare bottom, but the bubbles on the rock started before this.
