Build Thread 1 Year later.

Sure, but you can't plug it in until Christmas.

Until I hooked it up:p

Last night I tested the Effluent coming out of the reactor and it was at 26.6 DKH. Carbon Doser is set for 1 bubble every 5 seconds, and PH in reactor is at 6.6.The Kamoer peristaltic pump is set to 20 ML a minute. I tested my tanks ALK and it came back at 6.9 DKH, so I am going to bump it up to 8 in the next couple of days dosing 20 mls a day of ESV until I reach 8 DKH.

I am using Salifert instead of the Hannah ALK checker since I will be doing some major testing in the next coming days. I am going to follow @jda way of tuning the reactor and not use the PH probe to control the C02.

I am going to try and do daily updates on the tank and its progress of the new addition, and lets see where it goes. Just as long as it doesn't go downhill.

So this has been a great week for to have been able to setup the CaRx since I'm off all week long, and has allowed me to test 2 times a day.

And the tank has settled in with the Alk, and consumption. My Alk has been coming at 9.1 both morning and evening. I've changed the bubbles per second to 1 bubble every 10 seconds, and effluent rate is at 40ml a minute. Effluent is testing between 18-19 DKH. Been using the Salifert tests as they go a long way rather than the Hannah.

Tested the big 3 today, and ALK has been stable for the last 3 days.

Using Salifert to test
Alk 9.1

Happy you shared this! Love your thread, your tank is rocking! Crazy to see the progress from your fist post to this one. I like the frag hexagon shaped discs, mind me asking where you got them?

Thanks for looking, and it's been a journey for sure.

They are bathroom tiles I got from home depot or lowes. I rinse them in hot rodi water, then put them in the sump to build bacteria. And a lot cheaper than some of the frag disc of same size being sold online. And dont get blown around as much.

Awesome, I'll have to check that out. I've heard some stories of them leaching bad stuff over time, but looks like they've worked good for you. I like how large they are. Is one side glazed over? I'm guessing made of porcelain?

Wanted to post of some recent pictures of some frags. What I have noticed on a couple of corals that I have in the main tank, and in the frag tank is that in the frag tank which are getting a more direct random flow are getting super thick. PC Rainbow, BC Shades of Fall, and BC Rainbows in Spain are one that are fattening up. The Miyagi Tort is also staying compact, but gaining mass. You''ll see on some corals have a black top and those are some that I cut the tips off to promote growth, and promoting growth it has.

Over the Weekend I received a item I won from a raffle here on R2R from @cromag27 octoaquatics.com called The Shu.

And I am glad I won the Major Award since my Jerk Clown fishes did not care for new smaller fish in the tank. So I am going to give a honest review on the SHU now.

Build quality is great, and also light weight although I did have a piece come off with the lid attaches, but 2 part epoxy fixed that up in no time. The magnets that come with them are STRONG, and its great that he ships out a 1 page warning letter about them. The one thing that I ran into is by having a rim on my tank, its not that easy to close the lid as you would have to submerged the whole thing under water to be able to close the lid, which can cause an inhabitant of the SHU to come out (which happened to me this morning). An option that could be made is that if you do have a rimed tank, that the magnet be put on the opposite side where it current is so that you would be still able to open/close the lid without having to submerge it underwater.

I was going to go with Cardinals, but the wife wanted to try Firefish again. So here are the 3 we got, and as of right now there are only 2 in it. I am going to try and catch the escapee when i get home tonight

Wanted to see what the rave was about these pumps. So I added 2 mp40 to the 90 gallon and moved the 2 wav pumps to the back. Playing around with the vortech schedules now to see how it does. Removed the 3k gyre i had in the back as well. If you folks have any recommendations on which programs work best for the MP40, I'm all ears
