so my brand new 200g rimless had a “chip” on the front right bottom corner so big it looked like someone had been playing with a BB gun! I’m waiting on a replacement. sigh.

meanwhile, i have a stand!!! still needs a “floor”, but i want it open - i love watching all the machinery.

What size is the 80/20. It looks like15 series 1.5"?
Just a thought. Those gussets are small for a 200+ gallon tank, imo.
I would upgrade to the double gussets. All vertical support need gussets. The middle needs them on the sides as I dont see any to prevent side to side movement.
The gussets are the only thing holding your stand together.

This is very important as none of the top bars are resting on vertical support except the middle one so all the weight is on the gussets.

I would have had the long top crossbars on top of the vertical end support.

Not trying to scare you but I would not put a 200 gallon tank on that stand as it currently sits.
You will be close to 2000lbs with water, rock, and coral.

I would also add 2 more top and bottom cross bars for support.

All of the corners need gussets as I dont see any. Same on the cross bars. This is for lateral support.
You have them for vertical support.

Also use stainless steel bolts as the black ones rust quickly, ask me how I know, lol.
This is the type of gusset I am talking about.
The gussets are all thats holding the stand together.

Thx so much for the input, it’s very helpful. I’m handicapped, so I won’t be doing the actual physical things myself, but the friend who IS actually doing it was just discussing this very thing w me last week! He hired someone to build the stand, and there’s been a huge time gap bc I just now finally got an intact tank! My friend is not happy with the stand and is indeed going to involve gussets! I’ve also had supports put under the floor. There were a couple in place bc I did have a 150T. Now there are three more. This tank/stand is so much longer and there’s only a crawl space underneath!

Edit* i see leave it open.

what do you plan to use for the floor mentiont
A grey painted and sealed wooden floor is being made, with a groove in the center so it sits flush. I want it to blend with the silver colored stand- preferably as invisible as possible. I’m finally putting up some new pics, so you’ll see the sump system will cover most of the floor anyway. I’m gonna have a panel attached at the far side for lights bells & whistles lol. I’m also having light pink fairy lights strung up inside the upper groove of the stand. It’s definitely gonna be a #reefchick tank!

this is a better shot of the still wrapped in saran wrap acrylic sump - that styrofoam cooler you see is full of all the electronics that came from the old tank. we upgraded to the trident system for this one, it’s still boxed up over at the LFS, where my creatures are still being held hostage

I just want to state for everyone that my hoped for 200g is now a 180g. The loons who f’d up the first two tanks finally succeeded with the third… EXCEPT THEY GOT THE SIZE WRONG.

Nevertheless, I give up. I’m settling for a 180g. I suppose if I count the sump there will be at least 200g, right? All I can do is laugh at this point - I just want my creatures (what’s left of them, my enormous hermit crab, Herman, is the latest victim of attrition) back!!!
