I also want to note that CO2 can be a culprit with well water, but it certainly isn't the only one. Any idea what your iron concentration is like? Other ions could contribute too but that's one that tends to vary highly with location.

Well water in general is usually low in O2, high in CO2, and often high in N2 also depending on the well.

Less than 120 gallons and totally brown. Well water of course.

10 tds in 4 out. Does that mean I need to replace the resin?

If you are getting anything other than 0 TDS out then it’s time to change the resin.

turns out my system has pretty much only CO2 that gets past the membrane. I’m 300 gallons in and till getting 0 TDS after the resin even though it changed colors almost immediately.

Outside of degassing well water with an air stone is there an RO filter option?

Tbh it’s probably just the outside of the cartridge that got deleted, this same thing has happened to me in the past, I feel maybe I didn’t pack it right enough…idk

Check into the pH and alkalinity of the RO water, this can help understand if CO2 may be a problem .If so, a DIY degassing tower is the best way to go

This is all good info. I had no idea about the CO2 issue. I also have well water. The last several months I've been burning through DI resin much more quickly than I was used to. It seemed to coincide with when I took my water softener offline. I put it back into service a couple weeks ago at the same time I changed my resin and so far I have not seen any color change in the resin after about 100 gallons. Not ready to say that was my issue yet. Putting it out there in case anyone has seen similar.

You saying well water is the #1 issue with CO2. CO2 can be as low as 5ppm and as high as 55+ ppm which is what I have dealt with and everything in between. For a good peace of mind, get the CO2 test kit from SpectraPure then google "DIY CO2 Degasser SpectraPure" and you will see lots of good info on how to do this.
