Racoon would have been my suggestion too. Will eat corals. I would use an acclimation box to make sure the tangs don't hammer it. I had a yellow tang kill a pearlscale butterfly in my old 90. One day, the tank just wasn't big enough and the tang went postal.

The tank could use some more rockwork for hiding places, in case of aggression.

If I remember correctly butterflyfish are one of the families of fish that are EXTREMELY sensitive to QT and Copper in specific, other families like this are:
- Tangs
- Tilefish
- Rabbitfish (I think)
- Anampses & Macropharyngodon wrasse
If you dose copper but don’t keep it under control that is most likely why they die, these fish aren’t a PITA if you get them in with a peaceful introduction (Absolutely no aggression). I wouldn’t risk adding any more fish in with those tangs, especially the Zebrasoma tangs since they have a very similar body shape and will most likely kill the new CBB depending on its size. With those tangs, I have NEVER been successful adding a CBB with. I have had experience with all of these tangs and a CBB, the yellows and purples were brutal with the CBB unless it was added first. The gems were 50/50 and the Achilles when they got established hated any new fish (I couldn’t add new fish into the 7’ display tank we had in the first store I worked in - The fish ended up being sold because it was doing so well and we preferred a display with many smaller fish than larger fish).

I'm trying to get a SECOND CCB for my frag tank. I got one in my quarantine tank right now. And I'm not using copper on it. Now days most of the CCB are Being shipped small like 2" I think that's why their stay alive rate is very poor.

I confused you with OP, my bad. I have a feeling that is why their mortality rate is so bad aswell. I find with hard fish the smaller they are the harder they are to feed the right things but the larger they are then the harder they are to establish to the imperfect water quality of most tanks.

My copperband puts up with 17 tangs well

Here’s my Copperband with 5 different tangs in my 90g. Copperband was added last to deal with aiptasia. Had Copperband now over 6 months and no more aiptasia. They get along surprisingly well.

Excellent to know. So in your opinion you think i should get a CBB that's mature before or after acclimating to the tank. I'm in the mist of moving all my fish into a new setup with all my live rock from a 80g deep blue and water of course and if worse comes to worse i could hold off and just let the CBB in there with the rest of the tankmates such as non tangs into my 160g first before i put in the hounds LOL

I would wait until after your move. The less stress you can put on a fish the better. Make sure you find a Copperband that you SEE eats very well before purchasing. Since you are upgrading to a 160g, look for someone selling a copperband that has outgrown a smaller aquarium. That would be ideal.

That was my plan to get one that was already established and eating like a pig so less stress on him/her. Also i'd let it in without the tangs for a few months before adding the tang gang.
In QT;
yellow, naso, sailfin
IN 80g;
Purple & Clown
IN 50g LB;
Mimic half black tang

So it'll be the wrasses, lyretails & gobies in the 160g w/CBB until they get established and then turn the gang in there LOL

They will all eventually go into a 200g system afterwards but that's down the road.

The true schooling bannerfish is the reef safe one only issue is how they are VERY hard to distinguish which is which.

Yeah, they’re a very pretty butterfly and are a good alternative to the moorish idol!! If I ever went FOWLR I would go for one or two of these guys.

That being said you can find numerous posts on here of copperbands being murdered by tangs and angels.

So basically it may work or it might be a blood bath. The experiences here might not be the same as yours.
