I will mever bid on ebay again, i feel so stupid for doing it in the first place..
I think selling corals on ebay is a game..
Whi is this private bidder anyway!! He outbids me on everything i bid on so i will up my bid...
HApened to me not once but twic.
But what do they say:
Fool me once , shame on you
Fool me twice, shame on me
What does that make me !..... Third time!!! İm really ashamed of myself and quite upset... :(

The private bidder is every single bidder, the sellers do not disclose the identity of who is bidding against you now so everybody is a private bidder.

I don't use ebay for corals for those reasons lol. I may eventually because reef pets and other sponsors on here have cool stuff but I qouldnt buy from a none sponsor

Those people are probably using the proxy bid system or a sniping tool, the only reason you are losing in this case is because they have entered a higher max bid than you have...basically it all comes down to who, at the start of the auction, is willing to spend the most money, not who is quickest or most skilled.

I bid for corals on eBay quite a bit. I've won several auctions at amazing prices, and have lost auctions because the amount the other person wanted to spend was more than what I wanted to spend. That being the case, I don't get too worked up over losing because I feel that if I had bid more, I wouldnt have gotten the coral for a good price. If the seller has a good reputation I have no issue bidding on a piece on eBay, so I have to disagree and say that eBay is one of the best places to buy coral online IMO

Makes sense... İ guess i jumped into conclusions. İ apologise! Your right there are good deals on ebay, just dont agree with the proxy bidding system, if they want to make more on a particular coral then start the bid higher not 4.00.. Seems more honest..

Lol no need to apologize! Yeah I don't much care for the proxy bidding/sniping either, I think it's actually worse for the sellers because human bidders get caught up in the moment and often end up bidding more than they originally intended haha! Though the good thing is these bidding tools are available to everyone!

The only way to bid is to snipe. You have seen why. Go to a service like esnipe (I use them) and set up an account. They will snipe your bid 5 seconds before the auction closes. Don't make any bids at all let esnipe do it all. This is the best way to win an ebay auction.

I've legitimately sold thousands of corals on ebay. Don't tell people that it's all bad when it isn't. I'm a completely honest seller on ebay as are a couple other sponsors here...

eBay is easy and simple. When you see the coral you like and you know what you want to pay for it click on the bid and enter the most you will pay for the coral and eBay will just outbid the person until you are on top or until the max bid that you entered is reached and after that is higher than what you wanted to pay so don't bid any more.

I have no problem bidding on ebay and recently won a few coral from Mr. Coral who is a sponsor on here and have nothing but the best to say about process. Now saying this I do set myself a max that I am willing to pay for a coral or coral's and that will include shipping. If I win it at that amount then cool and if not then I am cool with that as well. A lot of sponsor's sell on ebay here and look forward to buying more that way, but I will not get in a bidding war either.

Proxy bidding comes in handy lets say you have to work, school, dance classes lol etc. you can just set the amount you want to pay and you are set. Not everybody can sit in front of the computer/phone until the last minute. I like proxy bid. I had an incident bidding on a wysiwyg item, I saw the picture so I left a bid well comes to find out that the image was of the mother colony not the actual frag so at the end I sent a claim to eBay haha of the topic but ya that sucked.

That sounds loke a plan... Im not here to badmouth any legit seller, i was just speaking by experiance.
I have just won a.n item withcoralfarmer, so far its been great, communication is great.

Im not telling people not to shop ebay, nor am i badmouthing legit sellers, so please dont be upset. Of course there are legit and honest ppl here, i would like to think most are, but ive also seen/read some nightmares, so thereare two sides to everything
Again, i apologise if i said something out of line...

I believe you may have contact me yesterday about this. Just to answer a couple concerns that you have with eBay, proxy bidding has nothing to do with the seller. The bidding programs are what the buyer uses to make bidding easier and has nothing to do with how much the seller wants from the auction. When you see that a "private bidder" has placed a bid it will show all bidders as private. So, if you get outbid at it shows that its a private bidder that could be several different bidders, not just one bidder.
If you are getting outbid at the last second that is most likely a program that people are using know as a sniper program. If you m ow how to bid, use a sniper program or just bid a fair price you will get great deals making eBay a great market place for this hobby.
For as many nightmare transactions that I have heard of about eBay sellers I have probably heard of five times more nightmare transactions that take place with website transactions.
eBay is no different than purchasing from a website, do your homework and make sure you are purchasing from a good seller with a good reputation.
