Please excuse me while I word-vomit my thoughts here for a moment so that I might organize them...
So, if I don't win this CADE s2-500 raffle this weekend (I'm sure I won't), I'm making the purchase on the 600 (I'd rather the 600 size, but I'd make due w/ a winning). 24x24x24 cube. I'm going to do a few things here... Initial scape will be built from mostly existing rock with any encrusting corals I want to keep between the two tanks. Then I'll work on building a nice piece to go into the 600 when it turns into a pony tank, that way I can sump it and start curing it, etc. I'll also be working on building new pieces for the big tank for when that's set back up. No more haphazard rock stacking?
Working on making lists of all the gear I need between the two. An additional return, a light, another ats, another powerhead, uv sterilizer, etc etc. Both tanks will be running for a chunk of time in the beginning as I move things over and sell things off.
Torn, some use mp40s for their pony tanks w/ a guard on them to prevent hitching, most run hydor koralias. I like the idea of being able to angle the koralias, but I prefer the clean look of the mp40s without wiring in the tank. Not sure which way I'm ultimately going to go on that.... I will ultimately need another larger one for the big tank so do I just get another one of those now and then get the pony powerheads closer to then? Or, do I get the koralia pony heads now since they're likely cheaper and save the other large expense for another time?
UV sterilizer is getting plumbed into the cube from the start, ponies will need it once I switch to them and that sounds like an easier project dry.
I know I'll want a roller in both tanks regardless, but I might just run one w/ socks and move the current over at breakdown then buy a new when we get closer to having both up. Yes, this can wait for awhile.
ATS is an easy add later. I'll move the surf 2x to the cube and get a bigger one for bigger tank closer to set up time. I know ponies will want a skimmer as well because, messy. IDK if I'll be able to fit the current one over or not. Won't buy one now, got time to figure that out.
Won't need to get a 2nd plank. I'll move it over in the meantime for the fish who will be living in the cube until the move, but it'll go back to the big one.
Dosers will move in the meantime and go back to the big tank once it's set back up. I'll get a couple single heads or a dual head for the cube for AFR and maybe easybooster phyto. Once they're split again I don't plan on keeping anything but softies in there so afr should be more than sufficient. That purchase can wait.
What am I forgetting??
I think I just need to get lights (thinking ai prime for the cube), uv sterilizer (looking at an aqua uv), a return, and powerheads.
Don't need a heater, if anything I might need little fans for longterm.
Alright, help me decide - do I move the sicce sdc 6.0 to the cube and buy a bigger one for the other? Or do I buy something new for the cube and keep that guy where he is? Which route for powerheads....
