I usually have good luck with a fish trap. I don’t feed them for 2 days so they are nice and hungry. Then put food in the trap and bam! Fish caught.

The damsels & my dusky are the only fish that wouldn't go near the trap when I was moving everyone from the 1200 to the 600.

Okay, no update on my ICP test, honestly have no idea when I mailed it off at this point. This week? Last week? Time is an illusion.

Woke up a MESS - worked late last night to finish precounting for tomorrow nights physical inventory, counted a lot of stuff that just SITS up in the steel acquiring layers of dust. My sinuses drained like crazy in my sleep and I felt garbagey. Like *I spent a night drinking* style dehydrated, when in fact I did not. So, 4 immediate glasses of water and 3 coffees later - I am alive.

No sign of any shrimps except peeks of the blood cleaner shrimp during feeding.

I keep telling myself *today is the day* for catching fish. I think I might try one of those bulb traps though before I try netting the damsels.

Wanted to head up to the property and check on progress, but I have to go in tonight to do payroll so that I don't have to go in 2x tomorrow.

Work hangover is cleared up, although I'm headed back in later tonight so we'll see if it comes back.

I reran my filter roller tonight, the sensor got dirty and ran the whole roll out so I unraveled and respun it. Haven't finished a roll yet on the cube.

After that was set back up I did the fake snow treatment.

I also baked a loaf of bread & got side tracked reading books instead of researching different style traps.

So, I started my account after already having my original tank running. Then I was extremely lucky and got my big tank free from a LFS that was upgrading and I didn't share any of that build. I'm at a point where I feel like I'm not seeing any progress, so I started taking a full tank shot once a month. I've had some ups and downs since I started that and there was definitely a learning curve going from 20 to 90, which I didn't expect in such capacity. I had some monti and acros that did amazing in my 20 but bleached and died after the transition over, I started doing well with them again, saw a HUGE burst of coralline growth accompanied by a massive decline in magnesium, and lost all my sps again.

Since that point, I started auto-dosing with redsea, then once stabilized moved over to Tropic Marin's All-for-Reef (which I love!). No issues with calc,mag,alk since then. I test weekly. I was buying premixed saltwater from my LFS, then happened to stop at a different LFS one day and almost nuked my tank with their water. My nitrates jumped from 5 to 15 and my alk from 9 to 12 with a 10% change, I have no idea what was in that water.... Had a few LPS that didn't bounce back from that and decided it was time to mix my own water (I was already making my own RODI anyway, why not make my own saltwater?). I use Tropic Marin Pro-reef salt now, and honestly only do about 6g a week in water change. It's not a lot but it's working for me.

I don't have a lot of fancy tech equipment, I'm running 2 viparspectra lights, an aquamaxx skimmer, jaebo return, jaebo crossflow, and 2 jaebo wave makers. I added a green killing machine back when the LFS water nearly nuked my tank because I had dinos/diatoms/cyano all pop up with that snafu. I also added an oxydator some months ago that I run with 8% and refill about once a month.

Recently I switched over to Easyreefs easysps and easybooster and I'm seeing some of my sps start to color back up, I unfortunately feel like even the ones that stayed colorful haven't been growing. I don't want to chase numbers, but the only thing off is my ph is on the lower end of the recommended reef spectrum - I blame my husbands beer brewing and us having co2 taps in the house. Considering a co2 scrubber to help combat that.

I'll get some photos up later from my monthly attempts at documentation....

Edit 6/12/22: This tank has changed a lot since that posting. It is now a Cade 1200 S2.

It's still fairly low tech though. In the next few weeks I'll be temporarily downsizing to a cade 600s2 until we move, then setting this tank back up at the new house and transitioning the 600 into a pony tank. I'll continue to post on this thread throughout the transitions, and start a new thread for the 600 once it swaps to ponies. Ponies will keep my gorgs and softies, 1200 will get my lps and any sps i choose to keep back into it after being set back up.

Hubs officially decided he wants us to realize our status as Bond villains.....

Cade1200 is officially going up for sale instead of being crated and stored.

Cade1500P (or possibly a custom following that same idea) will be joining the family in a bar build out in the new house.

We've gone back and forth about this for awhile, playing with all kinds of floorplans in SketchUp (listen, no one said we were sane) and today something just clicked to make everything work together. We kept looking at the basically open floor plan and wondering why the hell we didn't seem to actually have any space in a house nearly 2x our current house size and all it took was moving the plan for the stupid kitchen table and actually looking at the measurements around it.

Or, do I do a custom build for ? amount of money and have matt build a stand that would match the bar build? But then have to deal with figuring out all of the plumbing myself, and having that headache as well. I don't know what to do

I say go custom. This will allow you to get exactly what you want and get it to the largest size (or fit the space exactly), that you can afford.

If doing a bar build, you can cut costs on custom by only doing a low iron front and regular sides, for example.

This is his sketchup idea for it. The living room being to the other side. Basically you come in the house, the tank is to your left after the little entry hallway with the bar on one side of it kind of creating a false wall. And then the living room is on the other side of you. I just have no idea what pricing is like in these circumstances. I also dread the idea of dealing with any and all of the plumbing.

And for the record, I already told him a 6 ft table is overkill for two humans. Especially if it's going to be built to connect to the island to extend it further.
