I agree... when I did interior construction carpet, tile, and everything else went in before trim.

I don’t think that’s the order we do things. Makes painting the trim a biotch if carpet or floors are in first.

I'd assume paint walls, put in floor, paint trim before they're put up so it's not dripping on floor or whatever.

But from everything I've heard painters have to make multiple repaint trips because every other sub screws something up so maybe they're doing that last. No idea

I don’t know the exact reason but they install in our houses first and the painters use a sprayer. So not having to tape off the floors speeds it all up. Could be because it doesn’t make sense to paint and then repaint once they fill all the nail holes from install.
I’m sure other builders could use a different process.

I can see the sense in early baseboard if you are using carpet but not tile. Maybe the installers are that good at cutting the tile in.

This is true.

The walls and the trim are not intended to be the same color. The trim is going to have to be painted separately regardless so they're going to have to tape something either way.

And as I've shared previously, this company has had zero foresight for anything, so I highly doubt they thought that far in advance.

In fact, right now we have to decide whether we want to make them go back and remove trim in an area that we signed a change order to have them not do... That they did anyway. Despite the paper trail stating that they were not to do that area.

Everyone acts like we are the ones out of line here, but We have asked for exactly one change since they started this process 15 months ago. When we were drawing out everything with them we told them what room we wanted to use as a laundry room since it's different than intended , they told us the changes they would recommend based on the dimensions we gave them for the unit that needed to be moved in there. They ****** up their dimensions and did not account for the fact that things have to go around corners, so we ask them to please not put the trim up in there so that we have that wiggle room to get through. Did not ask them to do anything extra, did not ask them to change anything that was already done, just please leave that trim for us and we will put it in once we get the unit in. They said that was fine, they sent us the change order, we signed everything, they still put the trim up.... And it's not like we asked for it at the last minute, this was all set up with them a month ago. This is the first thing they have done since that.

We got a bad company, and we're probably going to have to go back and redo a ton of things because it's not worth trying to get them to do it right with how long it takes them to do anything to begin with.
