Some more excellent examples of work from the tile and paint crews

I can't even understand how they can do this to people. Or how other people don't notice this or say nothing?!?
I have suspicions....

Oh. We made a friend. Their final walkthrough is the day after ours. We both found this in our houses. 2 of our 3 look like this.

They told him they didn't need to replace it, it was fine.

We happened to get a photo of the box in our garage because they didn't throw out the trash in a timely manner.... we looked up the product info via the manufacturer website - this voids the warranty on them. Guess who's going to be replacing them for us...

Ugh, tomorrow is big stress walkthrough day. It's been 5 days of us just walking up and finding more and more that just looks horrible. Sleep is garbage. Matt is going back today w/ the auger because they put the septic in the wrong spot (it's literally in the county plans in the right spot) and when they flagged it out, we called it out and they said no the supe went out and verified and it's correct (it's very obviously not). We specifically had it planned for a spot that wouldn't interfere with fencing closer around the house itself - so we can let dogs out and not wonder where on 2 acres they are. I guess he's gonna check to verify it won't interfere w/ the plan then argue it with them if it does - especially since we have the paper trail we asked them to fix it before it was put in, and the county plans backing up our side. We were just gonna ignore it and move on but now he's in rage mode.

In unrelated to house news:

Tank - fish are doing well still, firefish have gotten more and more comfy coming out and swimming the tank regularly. I think I might leave them with the ponies once all is said and done...

I finally set up the ponysicle feeder thing I got (thanks to simon and frank again). I am going to run a test batch w/ the current crew to see how it works even though it's just fish in here currently - want to be better with it before it's time to use it for real.

Matt's dad got a crazy flashlight, it came w/ a really powerful little UV as well. I shined it at some of my tank and :star-struck: . Pretty excited to see how the new lights work w/ the RBs because they have some nice UV diodes in them as well and the tiny flashlight made my minimaxis so gorgeous.

How do they call themselves professional builders?! Sad to see.
The actual construction is good. We were annoyed with the slow progress and annoyed with the lack of communication from them. But the actual construction itself looks good... We were excited up until paint and tile came. Paint and tile is where the bulk of the issues are. And it's not a design concern, it's poor execution. The supe obviously doesn't hold the crews accountable which is a problem, and I would be very surprised if he has set foot in that house since we met him there in September. When we went to meet landscaping and found the cops there one of the other supes was there and told us all about what the process is supposed to be leading up to tomorrow. According to him, multiple walks are done in the house in the 2 weeks leading up and they walk tile and grout, they walk paint, they walk all kinds of different things and get everything they can catch fixed so that there's not a lot to worry about once we're there with them. His eyes bugged when he saw the backsplash, and he said that would absolutely be corrected prior to the walkthrough - There is no way they would allow that pass. Well, hasn't been corrected yet...... But he's not the one responsible for this house.

And the one office girl is absolutely atrocious to deal with. There were a few times where I had to put her in her place with statements along the lines of " if you took the time to check your own records..."

I'll never hire for construction. Hubs and I do it ourselves. Yes from the ground up. I know a guy for nearly every part of the process we need professionals for including septic, well, electric, plumbing, we trade work. I certainly can finish myself waaaaaay better than those crews for paint and tile. We're actually hoping to secure 10 acres soon to build a shop house. Those are popular here. And easy.

I hate painting with a passion, and I could have done a better job.

Oh boy lol

Hubs Dad went to Lowe's today and detoured to swing by the house for funsies.

6+ trucks from the building company.

I think our supe finally showed up to walk and panicked.

I don't know if I said it earlier or not, plumbing final inspection passed. They called for the building final inspection. We have the walkthrough tomorrow, I'm not going out there today to see what they did while they called the Calvary out... A lot of the stuff that needs to be fixed requires full doors or in one instance a window panel... I will be surprised if we make it in by the end of January.

Hubs Dad went back. From what he can tell:
  • They put up one medicine cabinet (one is completely missing)
  • They put the guards on the painted over/textured ceiling ventilation fans

That's it. It took 6+ full grown men to accomplish possibly only that.

But you won a light :)
Yes :) I might test it replacing the AI and see if I like it more - personally I think it'll be too small for the dimensions though, otherwise it'll go on a new pico tank. I miss my 3g
