Was wondering peoples methods on calibrating your temp probes for your controllers. i think mine is off and would like to calibrate it. can you stick it in a cup of ice water and the reading should be 32f or does that not work? thanks in advance.

you have to add salt to the ice water not much half a tsp table salt 8oz glass of water filled with ice cubes the reaction will give you 32 degrees hope this helps
You can calibrate it yourself if you have a NIST reference thermometer, although they appear to be a it pricey to get one more accurate than +-~1C. You might want to try contacting Neptune. If you saved a copy of your initial firmware, it might contain the original calibration data.

The Maverick PT100 is reasonably priced for a NIST-traceable thermometer.
Hanna makes some affordable high-accuracy thermometers; we have one of the checktemp models and it is very handy to have around. We use it daily.
We had a Neptune temp probe fail on us once - it was a near disaster, since it started to read 111 *F.
After that, we updated our controller programs to look for obvious strange readings, send alerts, and ignore.
