CALLING ALL KESSIL AP700 OWNERS!!!

Hey anyone have a issue while running 2 with one light being out of sync with other ap700 one of mine goes dim about 2 minutes before the other one same one that stays on longer seems brighter as well

ok guys, my 3-360 we's aren't cutting it depth wise for sps so I'm at a crossroads... i LOVE kessils, the shimmer, the pop... my LPS have never looked better. so heres my dilemma... i picked up a 360N and its doing the job, but still not as well as i've seen the the ap700. i also have a 5 foot tank (red sea reefer 450) so I'm thinking an ap700 in the center and a pair of 360N, one on each side to make up for the area not covered by the ap700. ALSO from everything that i can find, the ap700 is NOT compatible with my apex... sooooo I'm reaching out to anyone who can shed some light on how i can make this work. and hopefully someone from neptune chimes in with the most important factor... that they are working on a program and it'll be done soon! thanks so much everyone
I have 3 set-up over a 300 gallon tank. Yes, one comes on a few minutes before the rest, but not to the point where it's an issue. It almost has the effect of the sunrise & sunset.

I love the light. I actually grow SPS at the bottom of the tank (24" down).

Feel free to ask anything else.

That's exactly what's happening at end of light schedule the one on tight goes dim then the left lags behind about 1 or 2 mins then it dims to same as right on then they both ramp down from there I was a bit concerned because the left one also seems a little brighter during peaking

Called kessil they said I could reset app and if still a issue they would send me a new light well they offered to do that first I said let's try a few things first besides which one is messed up the left or right ? I told them

thanks for the input... i actually pulled the trigger on a pair of AP700's a few months or so ago. i freaking love them! added the slight diffusers and absolutely got a fuller spread and I'm able to give em a lil more power to pull some pretty colors.

Yeah I replaced halides with 2 on a 150 love them myself I have the 3.4 version app and the 3.4 firmware on the lights it hasn't been released yet but seems fine no bugs I have that thing I was asking about but that was before the update so I did have a outage and my issue might have started then but can't remember but the new firmware has back cloud protection so hopefully that's fixed now

Hey all, new AP700 owner here. Just want to clarify some software quarks of this light that is not in any manual and can only be found by observation and calling into support. Hope this helps current and future owners. Please let me know if you have observed anything different and I will update the post.

1. Q: Why does the fan does not shut off when the light is running on a schedule and the light is off?
A: From Kessil support: The light is working correctly and yes the fan does stay on. There is no way to turn it off unless you manually press the power button or unplug the light. No reason could be given for the fan to stay on other than "that is just how it works".

2. Q: I use my APEX to cut the power to the light at night so the fan will shut off. Why does my lighting schedule seem to gradually fall behind and the lights turn on and off later and later?
A: From Kessil support: The current time of the schedule is only recorded every 5 minutes. If the light looses power and is powered back on with out reconnecting the light to the app with your phone, the light will be off by up to five minutes. This can compound over the course of many days. To bring the schedule back on time, you need to connect to the light through the app.

3. Q: Can the default programs be deleted? I don't want them to accidentally be selected before I go out of town or if my kids press the wrong buttons on the light when adjusting the color.
A: From Kessil support: No

4. Q: Why does the light go into a rainbow mode when the program button is pressed once?
A: This is a DEMO mode.
Q: Why doesn't it show in the list of programs in the app?
A: "Just how it works"
Q: Can it be removed from the program loop?
A: No

5: Q: Can the light revert back to the last selected program in the app after the program button has been pushed on the light? Again, kids may press the wrong buttons when I am not home, or I may press it in inadvertently.
A: From Kessil support: No

6: Q: Can the light be monitored and settings changed remotely when I am out of town?
A: From Kessil support: No

7: Q: Will the AP700 ever be APEX compatible like Kessil said it would?
A: 4/13/18 from Kessil Facebook page: We are trying to work something out, but it's really all up in the air right now. Our apologies that we don't have any answers for you guys right now.

@AL'S AQUARIUMS Are you able to provide a link to that FB post? I can't seem to find it and support is saying they've never made comment about it.

I just jumped in with 3x ap700's for my tank (along with a few t5's for shadowing) and I am super happy with them. Still no Apex support, but the wifi app works fantastically well, so it really isn't missed. You could still plug it into the apex to shutoff for temp alarms etc. Been running about 2 weeks with no issues. Tank is 30" deep.

I'm also very happy with my AP700. Aside from my nitpicks above, the light has been really great!

Me personally, I would go with Two Scenarios:

Sell the 350/360 and put that towards another AP 700 and have have two Wifi units for that lighting pop.

The other, save for another AP700 and have them both on the outside and One 360/350 in the center

You guys think one ap700 will be enough light for a 48 × 18×24 mix reef

May be pushing it. The light is 24" and the lights centered in its housing is 21" and coverage will have dark spots. You could center light and place a A160 or 360 on each side of the 700

Question: Need to send my AP700 in for repairs. They told me that if the repairs cost more than $100, they'd offer me a new light for a one time discounted rate. Any one have to use this? How much discount did they offer?

If I recall - $650

2x360WE over a 120g tank (mine) is not nearly enough unless you are alright with dead spots all over the tank depending where you place the light. For a 120g I would suggest minimum of 4 ideally I would suggest 4x360WE + T5 combo (which is what I use currently) for the perfect setup using Kessil lighting.
So for a 200+ I think you definitely would need minimum of 4 coupled with T5 combination.

as kidtango stated at the time I just wanted a change and the only way I could get close to my previous setup in lighting was with 4x360 with T5 combo otherwise it was just not only putting out enough light but has dead spots on the back and sides.

I have 3 a360we’s and 4 80 watt t5’s over my 6’ tank that is 24” deep. Par is 200 at the sandbed. Can grow anything out there with that.
