I think nitrate pads are a waste of money. Also the store I got it from suggested nitrate pads? Would u try that or just go with the filter floss? Will I be loosing any beneficial bacteria in my filter pad if I remove whats in there now?

I think nitrate pads are a waste of money.
The bacteria that build up in the filter pads/floss will only give you more nitrates (hence nitrate factory term lol) the vast majority of beneficial bacteria will be in your sand and rocks. I think you'll be good to remove it now. How long has it been? I try to stick to 2 weeks per pad or one week if I'm feeding heavily.
Thats a good ideaIts been about 3 weeks on this tank. I'll buy some filter floss today and take out the bio wheel.
its what I would do lol
youll be fine.......I would very much like to have coral at some point. Mind u with everything I read it scares the bjeebees outta me with everything it seems I'm supposed to know...lol. All these acronyms and tests and water conditions. I'm sure it all comes with time. Right now I'll be happy if I can get it to the point where fish can live in it!

Good to hear.
Please be skeptical of advice. Even mine.
Water is what we do in a reef. So with The sheer number of folks in Reefing who harp on usIng RODI and scientists too You may really want to look into it.
And yes when I got bad water it was from the Lfs who's water I was using. Two months after switching I had a different reef.
It'll cost less than that skimmer. Which is awesome btw. I have the 9001 and 9004.
