Can someone explain how this worked?

Wouldnt a big difference between vodka and vinegar be the ph of the substance that you are adding? Vodka is between 6-7 and vinegar is totally an acid at 2.5. Do you think that choosing an acid is impacting your alk & subsequently PH? 5% vinegar will have more acidity vs 3% naturally. I can't help but think that it would bring PH down as it chews through your dKH. Maybe the dose is small enough to not matter.

Very interested in your comments as I am planning to vodka dose.
If you are asking me, I dont know

I love this story. Tanks on its last legs. Nothing going right. Last role of he dice, hail mary time! Hang it, we'll chuck some vodka in. What do they call that anyway? I dunno, just chuck it in. This is the last chance saloon! Boom, tanks is rocking again!

Well done OP. Glad it worked out. Tank looks fantastic.

And that was really how it was in the last couple weeks i have lost all my fish apart from my nemos and dori. 80% of my corals lost there heads . The only thing that seemed happy was my anemones. So i thought f### it , its all lost anyway. And in the last week my corals have nearly all come back, and looking great, my anemones have spilt twice and the algae is down to nearly nothing. If i can keep it how it is now, in a couple of months i should have a full reef again. And then hopfully can start slowly adding fish again . I have lost my small moray, porcupine puffer, cowfish, blennys, butterfly, foxface, and tangs. That really upset me the most. my front room is empty in the morning without there happy faces greating me every morning as i come in.... and im living in germany and replacing the fish isnt so easy as i have to drive nearly 100 miles to my closest marine specialist.. and then im thinking i will have to catch my nemos first and put them in a smaller tank, so i can add the new fish as the nemos are really aggressive if i just put new fish in there territory, so putting them in a tank that already has fish in it , is the safest option as they are then the ones that feel unsecure and leave the other fish alone. .
