I was told these are a pair of Black Ice Snowflakes but have seen these called various things over the internet so just wanted a definitive answer. Unfortunately they aren't hosting the BTA :(

Several people have taped pictures of clowns being hosted by stuff on the side of the tank and apparently it often works.

I'm having the same issue with my clowns. They aren't hoisting my BTA either. I saw a video of a guy who took a clear pipe and stuck it close to his anemone and then dropped the clowns into the tube and they just kind found their way down to the anemone and started hosting it.

Yeh I've seen all the various videos regarding trying to get them to bond but I really don't want to disturb the nem by pulling it or the clowns out.

i just looked up anemones hosting clowns . played longest videos i could. they swam close than far than back up to screen. got a deal on a huge bta cause store owner said for some reason he couldnt keep nems alive so i snag him up for 35$ he's prolly foot across that helped cause it was so big they had no choice but to be intrested . but it took my percula 3 days and my oc took a week of being alone at night. now they wont leave it for more than 20seconds to get food . i was gonna try the strainer method next. if that didnt work i was goin for clown tube . but they hook on to video's real quik i put 15min video's on and put phone up to glass and they honestly watched it

i also feed fish over enemone every time as well idk if it helped but i was trying these methods first so i wouldnt harm them

Currently got my mobile phone up against the tank playing videos on a 2 hour loop to see if it works. I'm not optimistic, had a clownfish pair in my last tank with a different BTA and they never hosted either.

nice i hope it works its awsome to watch them in there nem! do they see the video? i watched threw other end of tank to make sure they could see it i would play videos threw out the day and they watched it . i know when there scared they look for somthin to protect them is your nem big enough for them?

in the pic you posted they seemed close. idk how it starts but mine swam up and started sucking on tenticals and touching it till 3rd day was swimming in it

I don't think they have a choice but to be close in proximity to the BTA as it's such a small tank lol. I have noticed they touched it ever so slightly when swimming past, so far 6 hours of videos and NOTHING, typical for me argh!!!

I am now going to try and do the clownfish slide technique using a plastic coke bottle, just waiting for my BTA to open back up as I disturbed everything trying to catch them.

Pic for reference:

nice tank and it still took em 3 days of touching it befor they acually dove in . i think they gotta adjust to the stings but keep it up they will go in . feed bta it might cause them to try steeling food then they might discover it . do you have a tourch coral? they might try to host that instead . bta will get bigger they will go in just takes time . good luck let us know when you get them to host . how long have you had bta and clowns together?

So I've had it set up like this over night in which time my smaller clown managed to escape from a small gap to the bottom right of the bottle. So far NOTHING, I have managed to YET AGAIN choose a pair of clowns which are exactly that stupid f****** clowns. Can't believe my luck when it comes to this crap, makes me want to smash my tank in frustration. One last thing I will try is lower the water level so the clown has to touch the BTA at which point I fully expect it to escape some how knowing my s***** luck. I know the BTA in the pic isn't fully expanded it's because it was taken soon after it was all set up etc...

dang that looked like it should of worked . i was reading some on those clowns i think it said there oc . i think there compatable with carpets . idk my oc was slow at getn in he justed didnt want too until the percula left him behind . if your goal is the clown and anemone mabe trade them in for a clown and anemone thats already hosting . sorry we couldnt get them in i think strainer method would be my last resort it may take them couple days . sorry man

So I lowered the water level and a little too much the clown was touching the BTA as it had no choice and I guess the poor thing was being stung and started jumping about so I immediately increased the water level so he wouldn't forcefully be touching the BTA. After a little while I noticed he was touching the BTA and I guess had gotten used to the sting and wasn't jumping about like before so I lowered the water level again for as long as I felt comfortable with my torch and acro being out of the water. I have now let the poor clown go and returned the tank back to normal knowing full well it wouldn't host the BTA even though it was now comfortable around it.

In the future if I ever get another pair of clowns and a BTA for whatever reason, I'll make sure to tell my LFS I'd like this certain type of clown and BTA and to make sure they are hosting for at least a couple weeks prior to me picking them up. I have tried all the methods I have seen and read about and nothing has worked for me and I've stressed the poor little b******* out in the process.

i think just give it another week play more videos i played them threw out day for several days .have you fed nem yet? see if clowns steal the food i think they will still host just need more time .

LOL, he asked someone to ID his clown fish and this thread turned into a how to get nems to host clown fish thread... just thought that was funny....
