Atlantic pygmy octopus and clownfish?

says the clowns are semi aggressive and the octopus is peaceful

Agreed. Octopuses are likely to make a meal of any possible tankmate. They can be a rewarding pet, are very intelligent, can be trained to do a number of tricks, but are also capable of escaping through the smallest of holes. They have one solid bone and if that can fit, so can they.

That's what I thought ha-ha okay cool I'll maybe out a octo in my next set u
Guys quick question, I have two chromish fish, now the one who was really shy is coming out and feeding and swimming around but my stripped one just vanished, any idea ? I moved some rock and still can't find him, and he isn't floating neither nor did my filter get him, any ideas on what's going on? My other is as happy as a fiddle, then the other just vanished into thin water!!!

Check your carpet and behind the tank and stand, I lost clown fish that way, jumping.

And if it didn't jump, it doesn't take long for a small fish to get consumed by reef tank microfauna.

True and if he dies in your tank under a rock bristle worms will eat him quick a day or sooner lol
dang really? My tanks been set up maybe a week now,the green chromish was very shy and the striped wasn't, now its the other way around lol I moved some live rock not all but didn't see him, the other tho is doing fantastic, I have a tube out the window going into the tank to raise PH a bit, wanna add clownfish soon so probably after awhile, but might get a few turbo snails as I've got quite a bit of algae growing on the back and sides of the tank, do the turbo and margarita snails eat algae and a mix of other food I can make or buy or just strictly algae?

O. well your tanks new that's why your n fish died that algae u see is probably diatoms which is not an algae. It pops up in newer tanks

You need to let your tank cycle don't put anything else in there for like a month I'm telling you or your gona start off bad

The green stuff growing is diatoms? Have some brown too

Okay man, I got another 3wks to go! If the chromish pops up I'll let yall know.. Don't wanna add fish if it isn't cycled but my levels are doing good I'll check weekly

Thanks bud! Will do

It's all about a tank maturing you need to let it get very established if not u can count on not being successful in the hobby. Example I let my tank, sit 2 months without putting anything in it and know days I could drop a turd in it and the levels wouldn't change lol. But yours is new don't listen to your local fish shop do your research. Look at the nitrogen cycle for saltwater

Good deal bud, yeah I wanna be successful and keep healthy fish and a well established tank, ill take your advice and give it a month with fortnightly water changes and let it all go into place first then I can see what my levels are and then think about adding some clowns!! My little chromish is doing well tho so ibfeel comfy that he'll be alright for now!

I also use instant cycle liquids to cycle the tank quicker (obviously not right away) but it has helped my salt levels are great and most of my levels are either very low or neutral, I wanna bring the oh from 7.5 to 8.3 though , got my powerhead in too, cleaned my filter cartridge, and biowheel and the sand looks good live rock has growth in it (green and brown) and my glass has greeny brown stuff growing too ( mostly all the back and sides none front cause I clean it with magnets)
But yeah my chromish has managed to eat this morning i saw him rating when I out the food in for him, and he was feisty!

Many fish can live through cycles but manly hardy fish and let your tank get a
little dirty it helps with the cycle don't worry to much on your pH just let the tank mature you can get it up to 8.4 in a 2 day time window using pH buffer but by a decent size bottle I add pH buffer every 3 days to keep at 8.4. Kents dkh buffer

Your gona see all kinds of things happen to a new tank as its going threw maturity don't freak out though just research it

Thanks a million bud! Really helpful and informative, sobthese bristleworms that may have devoured my stripped chromish would they be bad or good? I don't see any worm like creatures thus far, perhaps in a few weeks I may see the tank coming to life?
.

Sweet I'll see if I can grab some PH raising stuff today

To answer your ? On snails, a mix is good, I really like the turbo and a sand sifter like narsariuss snails (not sure I spelled that right). I have had turbos mow down GHA, they are awesome.

So I moved some live rock earlier to lion for the stripped chromish I have and now my hands are redish rougb and slightly itcy ..also have had very itchy eyes since I bought my tank.. Are these associated with it? Bristleworms? Or anything perhaps?? I'm just curious

I do have a history of eczema on my hands but my mom use to take me to the beach and the saltwater would help but it hasn't been warm enough for my hands to break out.
