Bought two polyps during a frag swap in Indianapolis sometime mid-late last year. Colony has grown nicely, but I like this shot better :)

The skirts are much more red than the pic eludes to, but I just liked the coloration in the center.

this is by far one of my most favorite polyps. I had some and they melted really disappointing i traded a purple hornet for a couple of polyps they are growing pretty fast i believe i am up to like 4-5 polyps in just a few months. Nice picture by the way. don't you just hate how your photo skills never show the true color. it really irritates me.

do they grow fast or are they like ppe and your happy when u see a new polp cause you dont know when the next time you will see one

Those are really schweet!!!! How fast do they grow? I'm thinking of adding more zoas to my tank and looking at all of the different zoas available.

Mine grow fairly quickly actually. I've fragged this colony down to about 20 polyps a month or two ago, and I'm easily back up to 50+ polyps.

Yeah, it does stink doesn't it? I'm planning to spend the time working on learning the manual settings again to get better pics. I used have it down pretty well, but that was probably 3-4 years ago.

Nice pictures. Those are indeed a nice polyp.

this is always gonna be one of my favorite Rainbows. if I remember correctly, this is the original rainbow that I named a few years back. I first got my frag from ultimatefrags.com. I also had a few different morphs of Rainbows then but these were by far my favorite. I just a colony I traded a few months back on someone's tank and it had awesome colors. IMHO, these guys prefer lower lighting to maintain their vibrant red and Rainbow coloration. when you blast them with light, they shrink and become more orange.

I purchased a zoa frag pack from MarvinsReef a ways back and one of the zoas was CARs along with other high-end palys, I have to say of all of the palys I got (rastas, red hornets, purple hornets and a bunch of others) the candy apple reds are my favorites. They are amazing under LEDS and they are great growers! Thanks again Marvin for such a great pack!

cheers,
Darren

Yeah, mine are under a lower lighting condition right now, so they red still shows up pretty good in person. Obviously the centers stayed colored up as well :)

I can't wait to see what my colony looks like under LEDs next week. I'm pretty pumped about it actually, haha. I have a lot of colors in my tank, and I"m hoping they really make things shine.

which LED's did you purchase again? I'm looking into adding a 48" ReefBrite on mine soon. :)

If these don't end up being enough, I'll either send them back and get a ReefBrite strip, or get two more of these. Will decide next week once these come in. I should have just not been lazy and drive up to Premium today...oh well.
