Cannot keep Frogpspawn

I have been having this problem with only my hammers... My frogspawns are not affected. The tissue recedes from the bottom of the skeleton over the course of several weeks/months until there is no more tissue left and the coral is dead. But I think i know what my issue is... I have 0 Nitrate in my tank and my hammers are in a low light area. So i do believe they are starving for me. So I have picked up reef roids, and Red Sea Reef Energy Aminos and am feeding more to increase my nitrates and I will see how that works out for me. Do you happen to have 0 nitrates in your tank?

Nope I have 20 (Red Sea) and I dose acropower twice a week.

Mine grow wild.
I have at lower third of tank with moderate flow, moderate lighting at 1.026 salinity and feed 3X per week.

I’ve got a thirty head Frogspawn, I’ve found light flow and very good lighting helps!
I use Radions! Hope you figure everything out okay!

Maybe just frogspawn aren’t my thing :(

I would suggest trying a low flow area. My frogspawn was doing poorly for months until I placed it in a low flow area of the tank. Within a few days I noticed improvement.

Ive had the same problem but with hammers. I can keep torches and frogspawn (although my butterfly ate two of my frogspawns, that b word) but i cant keep a hammer alive for the life of me.

Yeah i’m no longer keeping frogspawn. Can’t keep spending money on something I cannot keep.

I saw your phosphates at 0? Euphyllia needs some phosphates. Nitrates can be 2 to 80. The only other question is are you dosing something? Very seldom do I see nitrates at 20 and phosphates at 0 unless someone is dosing a phosphate remover.

Sorry to hear your plight. I had the same issue with an elegance; withdrawal all around edges. I started feeding coral snow before bed and turned off the skimmer for 6 hours thereafter. I have seen dramatic recovery, although slow.

Used API for this and it can be wrong, or my eyes can be wrong. I’m
not using anything to remove phosphates such as GFO. I only have a skimmer, filter sock, and chaeto. Plus water changes.

In the past, I couldn't keep frogspawns as well until I got a frag off a local who had grown it for quite some time. Never could keep wild specimens alive for long term but the aquacultured ones were pretty hardy.

The frags I get are grown in one of the display tanks from Monroe. I may try again if Vanessa happens to have some next time I go up to Little Rock.
