Hi guys, I have (had?) 2 peppermint shrimps in the tank for about 2-3 weeks. Now I can't find one if them for the past 2 days. I only have 2 clowns n a cuc in the tank. Would one of the shrimp kill the other? If it did I hvnt even seen any remains. Do they prey in there own? I had read they are communal. Maybe it's hiding? Let me know if you have any experience with these guys? Thanks

Possibly just molted do you have a lot of live rock. I've had tons of peppermints and I have never seen a fight between any.

I had a couple and a cleaner shrimp that I didn't see for a couple months and out of no where the peppermints popped up so just give them time.they might have shed and hiding until it feels comfortable again

I have a decent amount of LR but I have it set up where I can pretty much see all the spots. Unless they can hide in a very small space. They've both been out together it's just now that I dnt see one of them.

I had 5 in my 95g. Trying to kill off the aptasia(didn't work). I see 2 or 3 most feeding times. Once in a while I see 4. They do hide well. Can try looking at nite to see if they are out

Thanks Bow. Yea I'm guessing its hiding then.

WOW ain't this something. I looked in the tank this morning, it was still pretty dark and I see one of the peppermint shrimp dead being eaten by some bristle worms n some snail checking it out. Now I dnt know if it was a molt and it shed or it was a dead one but now I can't find or see either one of the 2 shrimp. what the heck is going on!

I know it is odd but I saw my clowns attacking my peppermint shrimps. Then once they were fairly beat up my nasarius snails over took them and it was all over.

I had a peppermint shrimp...it molted and disappeared...I never saw it alive again. The skeleton showed up about two weeks later.

Check on the floor around the tank... theyre jumpers lol we lost one of our two cause it decided to go carpet surfing :/

Three days of them not showing up is nothing unusual. When they molt they hide for a couple days. You're telling this story right at the same time a lot of other people are talking about- this shed, this laid eggs, this spawned, etc. It's the cycle of the moon in the month of May. They hide so well because they are very vulnerable to being eaten by lots of different things when they are soft.
