cant find pistol shrimp

I bought a yasha and candy pistol 2 weeks ago and I’m only starting to see the yasha come out the last few days.
I’ve never seen the pistol shrimp. But not too concerned. Hopefully it will pop out soon enough.
I have a question. So the gobies help feed the shrimp?? I’ve seen my goby grab a large mysis go back into his home and come back out with no food in his mouth??
So my ywg and shrimp initially settled in the front of my tank so i was lucky enough to watch them feed. When I added my mysis to the tank the YWG would shoot out and and grab a mouthful then shoot back into the burrow and spit it out. This was followed by a ton of popping and when i shined a flashlight in the shrimp would be grabbing the mysis. its pretty cool to watch

Let me tell you guys a story. I got a pistol 2 years ago, never saw him, I copper nuked the tank after the second ich outbreak and removed nearly all sand, a year after that I was feeding the tank and out comes a claw.....

I got a pistol shrimp two weeks ago to match with my YWG. For the past few days I haven't heard him snap nor have I seen any new construct. My YWG have been staying in the same burrow but I haven't seen the shrimp or any sand movement near him. Today I looked under all the rockwork, looking for him or new tunnels. I also looked in the sump/fuge with no luck. I did not see him nor any signs that hes alive. Any suggestion on next steps or who could have killed him?

My strong feeling is that the hawkfish got him. A couple months ago we got a flame hawkfish and learned to really like his personality, but over time we also realized that he eats shrimp and small gobies. Things can die or disappear/hide for a while and we have a 125 gal tank and several fish and inverts plus corals so we tried to figure out what was happening. The first major disappearance was our red fire shrimp. Then a cleaner shrimp disappeared about a month later. In between we tried a randall goby and a yasha goby and both disappeared. At first we wondered if they were just hiding, but after a while we knew they were gone. When we bought a new red fire shrimp and within an hour found the flame hawkfish attacking and killing him we knew we found our problem. We caught the hawkfish and took him back to the store and have had no problems since.
