Is this looking normal

Unfortunately not. The mouth shouldn't be that open or gaping. This is normal

Carpets are pretty hardy though

They are hardy once acclimated, but depending on the species acclimation can be very tricky. Haddon's most definitely not recommended for the novice.

Moved him to the bottom corner. Seems to looo better now

Ok, so I recommend you do some reading here: http://bfy.tw/N56q

Also, if you look back to the first page of the thread you will see a healthy, **open**, carpet anemone without a gaping mouth (can't even really see the mouth in that photo).

See if you can give it back to the LFS (kind of doubt they'll return it at this point) because maybe they can save it? After that, read as much as you can on how to start up and maintain a saltwater tank. If you're not willing to do the necessary research before you just dive in, then you're almost certainly going to have bad things happen and you'll probably get discouraged. The Conscientious Marine Aquarist is a great book to get you started.

Bleached is not, in and of itself, problematic. As long as there's no underlying infection, most will color up if left alone. The 'furled up' look is also not necessarily a bad thing either. It's the gaping mouth (spilling the innards) that is a sign of potential problems.

They need a relatively deep sandbed and live rock. They will walk around until they find a comfortable place to stay.
They are hardy but CAN die and are VERY MESSY when they do.

Yours looks just OK. Not on deaths door but not real happy.
Don't feed it for a while and when I say a while I mean like at least a week or two. When you DO feed it, feed it shrimp or fish. NOT freshwater fish.

You will find that carpets WILL eat your prized fish.
(ask me how I know)
