hi was just wondering if you could tell how long it takes for a carpet to get its color back as it bleached in transit and could you also tell my 1 of hte saddle back clowns goes in to its mouth and comes back out i dont seem to be able to find any info thanks

It could take days or weeks or months depends on your tank. Keep your parameters up and it should be ok.

Saddle back clowns are brutal with anemones. I have seen clowns do that before where they go into the mouth and come out, its def stressing the anemone out. So you might wanna see if you can distract them.

I've been there. I rescued a s.haddoni that was near death. He rebounded quite quickly... a couple weeks before he'd take food. Great animals!

Moved to current forum.

I would ensure the anemone has appropriate lighting and has been properly acclimated to it. I would also feed it 2-3 times a week. You should see improvements in about 2-3 weeks and by two months it should have regained most of its coloring.

carpet

the clown only goes in to its mouth when i go near the tank most of the time its fending the other clown of whats the best thing to feed the carpet on at the moment its taking half a muscle every week

It looks pretty good.... are we sure that's not its actual color? They do come in white, green, and everything in between. If its eating, mouth is closed, and it's maintaining posture it might be fine.

iam not sure on what color it was it was realy bleached in transit

That is pretty bleached.

What size tank?
What lights?
Current water parameters? (( with numbers please ))

Keep an eye on the clowns -- the going into the mouth is somewhat "normal" for A. polymnus, but it can stress out the anemone. Can even cause issues for the clowns if they stay in there too long -- lost a female A. polymnus that stayed inside the anemone for about 5 minutes.

As for what the color may end up being, I am leaning towards it looking similar to this;

Im not saying yours isn't bleached. Just saying there are white ones. Here's a white S.Hadonni. This isn't bleached....

Your Alk is low. I would bring that up to at least an 8 gradually. Toss in or change your carbon ammonia should always be 0

Use carbon? How old is your tank? If it was cycled correctly you shouldn't be having ammonia problems... How stocked is your tank?

water changes and carbon. There is also additives like Prime but that will take it out but it is only a quick fix.

what the best way to lower ammonia levls

Water changes --- are you using RO/DI water? If not, test your water change water (( after you put salt in it )) for ammonia.

Shouldn't have an ammonia readings on a fully cycled tank.

tank is 16 months running and only 4 fish and 1 carpet nem and soft corals
