Carpet anemone...worth it?

Thanks, because of this discussion I got to Know that carpet anemones eat fishes.
Right now I am having only one clown and green carpet anemon.
While adding another fish I will keep this in mind

I have been debating a carpet anemone for a while but can't decide whether to pull the trigger. For those that have/had ones, what have your experiences been?
I had a green carpet anemone. It was beautiful. It had a very expensive diet of reef fishes snails, shrimp, etc. Then it grew to 2 feet wide and started moving around the tank on a killing spree.
Buy the way they live for 300 years!

Is there a reason for not feeding silversides? I always see them in lfs/Petco frozen food section

My personal experience is that anemones expel silver sides more often.

Hobbyist that keep multiple anemones report increased incidence of bacterial infections.

There are better foods. Tiny pieces of shrimp, scallops, cod.

An anemone in the wild is not catching and eating fish routinely.

Yep, I lost an otherwise healthy H. malu to their use --- stopped using them about 10 years ago. When I do feed my anemones (( now just 2 S. haddonis )), I use either krill or mysis, though I haven't directly fed them in years.

I agree that it seems some species can live a long time (as do some corals), but I'm not sure I believe the 300 years is typical. We do not have much of an understanding of how long most species of sea anemones live in the wild. I don't think there's any validated way to date them, and many current papers in the scientific literature say things such as:

"Currently, little is known about anemone lifespan or whether mortality rates naturally vary with habitat type"
