Corals look great bro!

Well things have taken a small turn for the worse... I figured I would document them here..

1. The LED upgrade didn't happen and I had to get a few T-5 lamps to get by for now. Cruises are more expensive than they look when all the smaller charges come into play. LED build still is on the horizon, just not the immediate future.

2. My RBTA has decided to take a turn for the worse after splitting. I already sold the splits so I may be without an RBTA soon :( Lesson learned to not sell the splits right away, even if they all look fine...

3. My maxima clam is dying or dead. I don't know if this is due to the nem having issues or the cleaning my wife did to remove the zoas that were on its shell... Either way the clam will more than likely not make it.

If the superstitious idea is correct, everything happens in threes so hopefully the worst is over...

On a good note, the corals are still looking good and the fish are healthy.

I have plans to change my 75G sump over to a 40 breeder to regain room in the stand for the calcium reactor. This swap will also allow me to easily remove the skimmer collection cup as well. This was an issue with the 75G being so tall. I will lose a little space for the return section if I keep a large fuge, but I intend to add a 10G top off so there will be 3 extra gallons to use there for evaporation so it shouldn't be an issue.

Sorry to hear about the trouble bud.

So sorry to hear about the clam and BTA and glad that corals and fish are doing well.

We had major sticker shock at the end of our first cruise and can certainly relate as those incidentals and tips can add up fast.

Just an update, the RBTA and clam did die, but I was able to source another RBTA from our local club. Two lessons learned from this one:

1. Don't sell off all the RBTA splits until ALL are fully healed and looking good...

2. Our local club is AWESOME!

Bummer. That is great you were able to find a another RBTA from someone in your club.

Wow, it looks like you have a little bit of everything in there - I love the red goniopora! Very nice tank.

And sorry about your losses, that's always a bummer.

Thanks for the compliments! Yes I do have a little of everything and too much of some things. The only thing I don't have is a leather, but I have a source bringing me a nice bright yellow fiji leather frag in the next week or so. It will be awesome!

That red goni is surely a nice addition to the tank. The nicest part is it is growing like a weed with no special feeding at all. I thought they were a difficult coral but I guess this one likes my tank.

More pictures to come once I get them edited.

Very nice tank. As someone else mentioned recently you have a little bit of everything in there. I can never seem to keep everything happy so I just focus on SPS corals, but I love the look of a truly mixed reef. Great job on this one.

Sorry to hear about the recent troubles, but it seems like it is not if but when trouble comes in this hobby. What seperates great reefers from those that get frustrated with the hobby and give up is how we handle those troubles when they do come. Sounds like you have a solid plan. Looking forward to contunuing to watch this tank.

Thanks! I will never give up in this hobby. You learn from the start that not everything goes perfectly and you need to learn from your mistakes. I have made many and learned much ;)

Great looking reef!! I like the hippopus :)

Thanks!

Here are some pictures to update:
