CDNess's 125G Build Thread

DOH! How time flies...

No pics and no progress on projects...

I did however figure out that people REALLY rig their sea swirls to keep them going for just a little longer. One of the broken ones is REALLY broken so it will be used solely for parts. The plan is to take one return pump and run it to the sea swirls. This leaves one of the return bulkheads to be used as an additional drain. I will probably set it to be slightly higher than standard and let it be an emergency drain for the just in case moment... It's not IF you'll need your backup plan but WHEN as one day it will be needed and I'd rather have water going to the sump than falling on my floor...

I have family coming to town this weekend so I'll have access to a DSLR again. Time to take some good images!

Updates: Not much new, but I have pictures!

So the left third of the tank has been lit with LED for the last 2 years. It is proven in my eyes to grow as good or better than my T-5 array on the right two thirds of the tank. This weekend I hope to go all LED. If my plans go like my other plans it may not happen, however I am confident I will get them installed by Sunday.

What percentage do you feel I should start them out at? These are Apollo Solar Blast dimmable lights...

Still looking great! Look forward to seeing it with all led's. :)

LEDs have been installed! The canopy is a little heavier due to the heat sinks but it isn't all that bad. Two people can still lift it easy enough so it should be OK. I copied a friend's APEX programming for the same lights and there must have been a binning difference between our lights as mine looks yellow and his are bright white. Odd but just an adjustment to the program and I am good.

In order to not burn the corals. I have it set to 60% blue and 25% white. They were under 6 T-5s less than 3 inches from the water so I don't think intensity is going to be too big of an issue, but I'll ramp it up slowly over the next few weeks.

Pictures to come when the lights are on...

Look forward to the LED photos! :D What LED units did you buy?
