I originally voted $500+ because that's about all I have into my aquarium/corals/equipment/food, but I did go to MACNA so two adults w/ hotel and food put me over $1000

How much do you think you spent in 2019 on the hobby including dry goods, livestock, equipment, service, the works? (you can vote only if you don't want to say)

Most of my $7500+ spending was a result of re-plumbing to go from FOWLR to full Reef. Adding lots of automation including many Apex products, Wave pumps, corals, and some desirable rare fish including Black Tang, Crosshatch Triggers, Goldenback Triggers, and implementation of Triton Core 7 method. To date I am seeing great results from my investments, and certainly a more pleasant experience overall.

Over $5k for me. Last year I bought an entirely new tank, and got all new equipment for it. Not to mention other acquisitions.

purchased RS max 400s in November 18. Last January, I just started up the tank, so I had to buy a lot - chemicals up the kazoo, livestock (spent over $2500 at WWC when I was in Orlando), gyre pumps, etc. I'm afraid to actually account for how much I spent and my wife would have a heart attack if she knew - $200 here, $500 there....It might be much closer to $7500.

One question I wanted to have a poll on is 'how much time do you spend on your hobby per week?' I only have 1 tank, but it is easily 4 hours a week, and more likely 6. Some weekends it is 8, depending on what I need to do, maintenance wise. Could we have that as a poll question?

I feel personally attacked LOL I spent in the ballpark of $5,000 in 2019 as that was my entry into the salt water hobby. It was just an extension from the fresh water hobby for me, but dang the salt water side is expensive to get up and running!

2020 will be my year (well it has already) of fish and corals. This is after this very question as many of you are familiar with myself and tanks, the new tank alone figuring the entire package, 5 Orphek Atlantiks, 3 orphek bars, new monster skimmer CA reactor setup and 4 cases of salt plus other components,,,,, an easy $14,000 here and I left out quite a few items. This does not include the new drop off tank that was added to my den. ( Chalk up another $3000 )

Again, I now just have to focus on fish and coral but am over 60% at stocking plan thus far and have 5 buckets of Tropic Marin, so in much better position to spend less this year.
And. . . . I still tell people :

I bought 5 Kessil 360x, trident and new reef low pumps, new Skimmer
This does even consider food, salt and other misc stuff
Maybe a better change to 5k+

I was just talking about that and was like you will never know even under torture
because if you calculate everything ...salt water RO power food .....right there it is at least $200 a month and then i buy equipment or corals ..... put it this way i refuse to go to the store because I hardly walk out of there under $500 so i send my husband to get RO and Premix lol and even he comes home with stuff sometimes LOL there is no honest answer to that question and if youre like me and go on the internet and sneak a few more corals here and there ........ nope no number comes from me and if ........it is a lie LOL
