Chaeto egg crate sandwich idea.

Yes 2 65w Pc's. I don't know about your light though? Is it hot? True LED? For one thing, the chaeto will grow uneven, more right under the light, and less to the sides.

I am going to try to drill small holes on the "post" part of the suction cup and use small zip ties. Also drill small holes in the egg crate to attach it to.
The suction cups work by placing the little nub in the middle of the sandwich. The problem is the CS size has to be precise to the sides of the tank. What I have found works best is using wire snips, and cut the eggcrate precise to fit snug but not forcibly between the sides.

Can you snap a picture of your light fixture, and maybe a link to the light bulbs so I get the right one?
My led flood light is not hot but it has not been super impressive in growing chaeto but could just be my lack of nutrients.

So what kind of light should I get for the best growth of macro algae

2 65w PC's 6500/10000K, this light could make things a bit warm underneath , but I am running a chiller.

Would u at as long as you have a 10K you should be able to grow macro fairly fast?

Well the whiter the bulb, down to 5500K the better. But it bothers the eyes more . I used to find 65w PC in 6500k only but I can't find them anymore.

Yes. I think I will just do that and avoid using the suction cups. It seems that would make it harder to remove and flip.

Wow, I'm liking this so far. Barely a week and I'm seeing good growth already! More than I saw after weeks just hanging out on top. Biggest problem has been keeping it down. The oxygen bubbles make it want to float. Any got a good ideas for saltwater safe weights [emoji848]

You probably need to go closer to the wall of the sump on your sandwich.

I too have seen good growth on my CS.
I made two CS but the light I had seem to only be enough to grow chaeto on one CS, so I took one of the CS out tonight. In its place, I'm a running a bag of carbon on a empty egg crate. 11 days growth.

If I wanted to have just a tank setup for this, how important would water changes be? What would you guys suggest I need to run just a refugium tank?

Don't skimp on water changes as it exports waste and replenishes minerals.
No lazy reefers allowed. lol

Well what I was getting at is that chaeto eat nitrates...and that's the end result of the nitrogen cycle...

Also, do you guys think marine land led lights would be enough to grow macro algaek
